Technically aramid fiber doesn't loose any strength but water lubricates the fibers and reduces friction - this is the same mechanism at play as with oil, the only difference is that oil has an easier way to wick and soak in these fibers as they seem to be a bit hydrophobic. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/283707427_Effects_of_water_on_the_ballistic_performance_of_para-aramid_fabrics_three_different_projectiles

2024-03-08 15:52:18 +0000 UTCMight the result not just becuase the fiber was wet? You should try to reproduce the test, but only with water instead of oil. Kevlar / Twaron looses it's strength when wet.
