A little announcement

Hi 

Just thought I'd make a little announcement.

First of all, the work on the patch continues. Almost all of the renders are done. The final number will be about 140. 

Most of the scripting is also done.

All that remains is to write the dialogue. I know where I want everything to go, and I hope to have the alpha finished sometime tonight. I will probably be quite late into the night though.

And the patch will probably be released Sunday evening.

Now to the announcement. 

Starting next month, I will be switching how I process pledges. Up until now, patreon charged patron cards at the beginning of the following month. So you were charged for March on the first of April, and you will be charged for April, on the first of May.

This has inevitably resulted in some people pledging, and on the last day of the month, retreating their pledge (Some have even returned on the first of the following month, like I'm an idiot, or something). 

That didn't bother me, I figured if people wanted to support the game, they would regardless. But with the setting up of the server, I can no longer afford such a cavalier attitude. Because they will be taking up bandwidth reserved for patrons. So I will be switching to the charge up front model, same as most other patreons.

I was very hesitant to do this until now, because I was afraid that current patrons might be charged twice. But I've been in contact with Patreon, and they've assured me that it WON'T happen. This will affect new patrons only, and all that will happen with current ones, is that the email you receive from patreon will say, "you've been charged for May" instead of April, basically skipping a month. 

I'll wait until May to do it, because if I do it now, patrons that pledged in April would be charged twice. Once in April and once on the first of May. And that would be a HUGE dick move on my part, towards people that, I assume are here in good faith.

So in terms, of "how will this affect you", it won't. This is applicable only to new patrons, starting with the month of May. But I like to keep things transparent.

That's about it.

In short, alpha will be ready sometime tonight, full patch, on Sunday night. And starting next month, I'll be switching to the "up front" model, but it won't affect current patrons.
