This is Cauldron, a small city of nearly five thousand that was built long ago in the caldera of a dormant volcano. Beginning with Dungeon Magazine #97, Cauldron was the center of an entire adventure path called The Shackled City. The first adventure, "Life's Bazaar" was written by Christopher Perkins and the original map was drawn by Christopher West. In the realms of Greyhawk (the Flanaess) Cauldron is located deep within the Amedio Jungle along the Hellfurnaces, just south of the Lands of Sasserine.
Changes to the Original: The original map by West showed a scale that did not match the encounter maps in several of the adventures. The original city maps had a scale of 2000 feet, making the entire map 6400 feet across. It's my personal belief that the true scale of this map is 1600 x 1600 feet, which makes the scale at the bottom 500 feet. This size makes much more sense with the size of the city, its buildings, and matches the size of the area encounters where the large avenues were about 20 feet wide (rather than 100 feet wide). But using the player versions, you can make this city as big as you want.
Of course, if you aren't using this map for those adventures, the player versions could be very useful in any campaign.
