Life update and plan for getting rewards up and running again
Added 2020-06-23 23:14:31 +0000 UTCHey all! This is going to be a short slightly technical journal to explain my plan for getting back on track with posting Patreon rewards. Typically, I have been putting them on my Dropbox and syncing them to post. However, my internet is quite slow, and files usually take a long time to sync. I started backing up my PC over a year ago and it is *still* not finished. Typically, I would overcome this by telling Dropbox to move the files I was trying to upload to the front of the queue, but for whatever reason, I am not seeing results from this anymore. I am not really seeking technical help on it and I don't have the time honestly to be a hacker type and figure out if there's a technical problem with my Dropbox install or cache or something, but either way, Dropbox doesn't seem to be figuring out what to sync when I tell it to anymore and all my files are just spinning blue "syncing" icons forever.
Eventually I've just concluded that my internet is far too slow to really use the cloud in that way, so I'm just going to buy some extra hard drives and draw everything out of the cloud except my Patreon folder. If that doesn't solve the problem, I can use another service or upload them to my server, which is something I was trying to do recently - however, with Dropbox attempting to send files into the cloud using my upload bandwidth as well, I was waiting for *days* on that and just gave up eventually, because I really need the quality of life of being able to game regularly with my friends while I'm in semi-quarantine for my mental breaks/social time, which I cannot do if things are using my upload bandwidth.
I'll be getting some new hard drives in the next few weeks so I can rely on local backups and free up the rest of my upload bandwidth for uploading files to Patreon for you all! Until then, I will just post the regular compressed versions. I'm sorry about all that, I just wanted to give an update that it's being worked on. I really appreciate all of you and want to make sure I'm giving you something worthwhile here in return for the support.
