Character Art Poll

For games that I create, how much do you enjoy seeing character art or scene art? As I work on Stronghold, I am thinking of adding character art for the 6 main characters. And of course, I have already added quite a few ZESH characters to the game and plan to do all of them.

As for scene art, I am talking about the map of the junkyard or even illustrations of key scenes in the game, such as a view of the Silverthornes camp.

This is quite costly to do, because I hire an artist. I believe it adds to the game, but I want to know your thoughts.

I would love map art, as it would build upon the ever evolving world. Key locations like the Junk yard and Silver Thorn camp but like a GPS map guide of the overall area and key locations. with some details on key parts of the areas and settlements. Because I think our imaginations are powerful and can create most scenes as it's well written. Like when Jamie charges towards the zombie horde on the battle of the hill. I have the scene of the hulk rushing forward for some weird reason.

I love seeing character art, and scene art could be interesting as well. Personally I would like to see a like, skyline/map style picture of Nightfall at some point if possible, but if not then it's not a big deal.

The problems with scene art are that they take a long time to produce and cost a lot. Personally, I would love to do more.

I would say that scene art is more *helpful* than character art. I *like* both, but as a player, scene art is much more useful to me to visualize a layout and make informed, strategic decisions.
