"Good morning," Tommy says, smiling beside you. He leans in, planting a quick, tender kiss on your lips, a soft start to the morning. "Want to catch the rest of the sunrise down by the lake?" he asks, his voice low and inviting.
As you nod in agreement, you notice Tommy holding a pair of scissors and a small handheld mirror.
After getting dressed, you step out of the bed, leaving the confines of your temporary shelter behind. The junkyard is quiet in the early light. You both walk through the gates at the back, stepping onto the natural trail that leads to Sapphire Lake.
The path is familiar, a well-trodden route through the wilderness that surrounds your haven. Trees line the trail, and the air is fresh, tinged with the scent of rain from the night before. As you walk, the world around you gradually awakens, the sounds of nature replacing the silence of the early dawn.
Upon reaching Sapphire Lake, the sight that greets you is almost ethereal. The lake, its surface still and glass-like, reflects the morning sky's soft hues. Mist hangs in the air, giving the landscape a dreamlike quality. The gentle lapping of water against the shore is the only sound that breaks the tranquil silence.
Tommy gazes out over the lake, his expression thoughtful. After a moment of silence, he turns to you, his eyes reflecting a turmoil of emotions. "I feel strange about everything with the Makarovs," he says. "I thought confronting them would bring closure, but there's still this empty feeling…like nothing's really settled."
