Madison stayed close behind her brother as the two crept along, making sure not to make any noise. They knew how to move across the grass without making tracks or any sounds, and their training kicked in without them knowing.
As they reached the back of the house, Brody and Madison's eyes were immediately drawn to the pool area. It was a beautiful, sparkling oasis with crystal-clear water that invited them to dive in. A pool house stood nearby, with a large shaded area and comfortable-looking lounge chairs. Beyond that was a shed, the door slightly ajar.
Uncle Nate's SUV was parked nearby, gleaming in the sunlight. It was a massive, imposing vehicle with a matte black finish that seemed to absorb the light. The windows were tinted dark, providing privacy and protection from prying eyes. Brody and Madison approached the vehicle with curiosity and awe, marveling at the level of preparation and attention to detail that their uncle had put into it.
"This is exactly what we need," Brody said. "Nothing can get inside this thing."
As they reached the SUV, they saw it had been retrofitted with various modifications and upgrades. The tires were massive and rugged, capable of handling even the most challenging terrain. The vehicle's body was reinforced with steel plating, protecting it from potential threats.
On the roof of the SUV, there was a sturdy roof rack loaded with all sorts of gear and supplies, including jerry cans of fuel, extra tires, and even a small satellite dish.
Brody approached the SUV, his heart pounding with excitement. He tried the handle, but the door was locked. "Damn it," he muttered under his breath. "We need to find the keys."
Madison nodded, eyes scanning the area for any sign of their uncle. "Let's try the house," she said, motioning towards the nearby structure. "Uncle Nate always used to keep keys in that ceramic duck on the mantle."
They slid towards the house, moving quickly but cautiously. As they approached, they could hear shuffling feet and low growls coming from inside. They exchanged a nervous glance.
Brody gripped his lacrosse stick tightly as Madison pushed the door open, peering inside. Suddenly, a zombie lunged towards her, its teeth bared and eyes wild. Brody swung his lacrosse stick with all his might, hitting the zombie in the head and sending it flying backward. He spotted two more zombies running for the opening and slammed the door shut. The zombies slammed into the door, trying to break through.
"We need to go now!" Madison shouted, her eyes wide with fear.
Brody nodded, looking around frantically for a place to go. "The shed, the pool house, the SUV, or the back gate?" he asked. “That door won’t hold for long.”
