General poll - romance
Added 2021-10-14 15:59:51 +0000 UTCRomance has become an integral part of any choice game. Players enjoy romantic storylines as much as they do the main plot. There are so many ways to handle introductions to romantic options (ROs) in a game, and this poll will ask your opinion on which options you like the best.
Just like in life, forming a romantic relationship, or any relationship of that matter, requires some degree of courtship. Some players like to make the first move while others enjoy characters making the first move. Some players treat each character differently or their attitudes towards characters may change over the course of the story.
For this poll I want you to let me know all of the ways that you enjoy interacting with romantic options in the story.
Please choose all types of romance options that interest you. If you like every option, feel free to pick them all.

I think this poll made me understand why I’m on the Madison band wagon. I am so aggressively Demi sexual in real life that I tend to have a hard time with relationships in media that seem like they are moving WAY too fast. And obviously that is a personal thing and I’m sure other people don’t feel that way. But for me, I very much prefer established backgrounds between characters and if not then a slow burn. And since madison and the MC have that previous relationship, I was definitely drawn to that over the other RO.

I feel like if certain characters really have a problem with the MC's personal choices (like if they are a murderer) or the MC's leadership choices (denying people or joining the SM, for example) then I feel like this could cause some real problems in the romance. This could also be a good way to incorporate the romance side of things in a meaningful way other than mushy stuff. Nothing wrong with that of course but a lasting relationship between people is based on more than just love.

2021-10-15 14:53:57 +0000 UTCNot at all. I am adding new ROs in Part 4. Also, you have been around the people in your group for a while now. Some of them may become interested in you over time. So even if you are in a relationship with Bailey, maybe Madison starts to show interest in you.

2021-10-15 14:53:10 +0000 UTCI tried this in the original ZE and my beta readers really hated it. They felt that they wanted to be able to save both or they were were getting railroaded.

2021-10-15 04:49:50 +0000 UTCSo far i like for the other characters to approach and love triangle the most XD
2021-10-15 01:08:13 +0000 UTCAnother relationship trope I quite like is the friends with benefits that turns romantic. I also like to see the different relationship dynamics, which are portrayed to some degree in ZE:SH (who kisses whom first, who takes the lead in bed, as examples) but I don't think I've ever seen a true representation of a dominant/submissive relationship. And just a thought that popped into my head: can you imagine being a furry in the apocalypse 🤣🤣

2021-10-14 17:09:04 +0000 UTCChoose one while the other dies works in 2007 when Mass Effect 1 comes out, but by now it's already a cliche

2021-10-14 17:07:56 +0000 UTCThis is a really good pole. Another one although I know it’s not an option but it’s the twisted tragic tale relationship when you’re trying to protect your partner with your life but unfortunately they die. It’s like similar to Romeo and Juliet without you know……… for example let’s say your romancing Tommy and you’re in the middle of a battle just like how it was with Candace and Mindy from the original game. Let’s say if you saved between Tommy and Rachel, if you save Rachel, Tommy would survive but Rachel die. If you save Tommy, Rachel would survive and he would die. Either choice, someone’s gonna die either way. I feel that building up that type of stress while in a relationship definitely causes players to have a hard time to choose between a romantic partner or their own comrade.
