Coming out of hibernation...

Dear Patrons,

It’s halfway through January and you’ve not heard a peep from me. I do apologise! Like a little animal coming out from my winter hibernation I’ve not been that keen to step back into the full flow of work yet, I think I'm just still suffering from a bit of mental burnout. My head is cloudy, my body is tired and I approach this blog with a little bit less articulation than normal. 

My pug George has summed it up in this rather apt picture:

That doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy! Behind-the-scenes I've been writing, collaborating, connecting and working on soooo much new music/art that this year might just be our best yet! I've also been focusing inwards, crafting songs by the piano and really just having a bit of 'me' time, along with some much needed decorating in my home!

Anyway, thank you for sticking with me, as each year goes by I realise how lucky I am to still be doing what I do.

I hope you all enjoyed my Queen’s Speech? I thought a bit of silliness was in order.

Anyway, onwards! Would you like to hear what’s happening this month? Of course you would!!

Here we go...

1. "ECHOES"

First up, I have to give you the first "thing" this month: “Echoes” - a collection of electronic soundscapes that was written with my good friend and collaborator Third Bloom. 

We've been crafting music together for several years now, mostly with me sending chords or vocal samples, and him collaging electronic masterpieces around it. It's one of my most effortless musical partnerships, and I can honestly say I'm over the moon with his first full album, it's truly astounding. If you remember the Ribbons Remix (Or HXMX) last year then this is the same person...

DOWNLOAD THE ALBUM 

You can hear my singing and synth arrangements on most of tracks, stunning and heart-breaking strings from Hana on track "Today We Escape", and anytime there is a guitar, it's Garry. We have already started on album #2 but I wanted you to be some of the first people to have hear this now that it's fully mixed and mastered. 

Please don't share it yet, it's not out for a while. Enjoy, and let me know what you think! It's different than my normal stuff, but I'm really pleased to be a part of something like this.

ILLUMINATE - THE CLASSICAL ARRANGEMENT

My main "thing" for this month is going to be the string quartet and piano version of our last single, Illuminate. Hana in particular has slaved away over this one with multiple layers of cello and violin and the result is quite something... can't wait to share it with you!

I'll also have a cover for you, some PJ Harvey (on request from one of you!), a livestream (maybe 30th) and of course my vlog will come out early next month, I've begun documenting everything.

Meanwhile we are full steam ahead for the next song "HEX", and should have a music video and track ready by next month.

Right now, this is currently my view...

...so I'm going to put the laptop away and enjoy being with my furry babies.
