November Devlog 1

I won't dwell on it much, but as a queer Jewish American making adult art, these last few weeks haven't been easy. Sometimes self care is a slice of cake and a warm bath. Other times it's dipping into fictional vexillology and recreational coding. As a bit of stress relief, I created some flag designs for the Saunian factions and coded the skeleton of a turn-based combat system. I have no idea if either will actually be included in the game, but they're certainly in my back pocket now.

That isn't all I've been working on though! November will be the month I complete the game engine and I've been making great progress. A lot of it isn't particularly flashy, like coding pause/options menus and an algorithm to automatically lay out a timeline. I've included a little preview of the unpolished timeline screen, including the names of scenes from the first chunk of the game.

I've also put a lot of time into modeling the 3D map! As part of this, I've had to figure out the exterior shape of the spa. I used a set of blueprints I'd drafted up a while ago and I have to say, it doesn't look any more normal in 3D. I suppose it's only fitting for everything that happens inside.

My goal for the end of the month is to have the game engine fully functional. If everything goes well, I'll be able to share a video of the 3D map screen in action!
