Hey everyone!
Development is going great! There are two videos at the bottom of this post showing the engine in action. I'm still using a lot of WIP and temporary assets, but I wanted to show you how the game will flow once it's ready. Since my devlog a few weeks ago I've added a bunch of new features:
-Dynamic comic pages with transition effects (this still needs a lot more cleanup)
-Sprite transitions for the visual novel scenes (dissolve, move, fade)
-Improved save system
-A bunch of error handling (for my own sanity)
-Several translated json files (I included one below if anyone's curious how it works)
I can't believe how quickly this is going! I had never worked with Godot before November, and the engine's already feeling great.
Next month will be largely focused on asset generation. I have a bunch of the early scenes already set up, I just need sprites, splashes, and backgrounds to use for them. I'm going to continue working on the engine and transitions as well. See you then!
