Schedule Announcement

Please keep this on the DL until it becomes public knowledge around November. You can tell your friends, but swear them to secrecy. Tell them if they talk they owe you $20.

Hi guys! First off, thanks for your support, and thank you for helping us to grow! We appreciate you guys so much for investing in what we're trying to build. It really means a lot to us.

I'll try to not duplicate too much of what we said in the video above!

So, as we're sure you've noticed lately, sometimes we're having trouble getting tutorials to you until the last minute. I started this tutorial a week schedule when things were light for me, and now, even with both of us working on tutorials, it can be a challenge with client work. We just had a situation where we were supposed to do a bunch of videos earlier in the summer, but it kept getting pushed. Thankfully, they also cut the number of videos, but with the delay on script, we basically had to board, design supplementary elements, and animate 5 minutes of animation in about a week and a half. It was taxing on our lives. Thankfully I had done my tutorial over a weekend, and Sev was able to get one completed in between revisions. When we have to do that, it really takes a toll on family, work, and our tutorials. And that's not something we really want to do just to keep up with a difficult and somewhat arbitrary posting schedule. We're not Beeple. 🤣

We just want to reiterate that we're not going anywhere. We want to put more of a focus on Workbench and our tutorials. I know that sounds odd since we're be putting out less videos, but we have some bigger picture plans in place and that's often hard to fit into weekly tutorials. This is our next evolution. It's not really going to affect the overall volume of content you get from us, in terms of quality especially, but there might be more time in between tutorials on YouTube.

As we noted, you're still going to get what you'd expect from us as patrons, and in many cases, probably more than you did before—especially in experimental stuff. Since we'll have more time to explore concepts there is going to be a ton more of that stuff. Additionally, we're working on a lot of products behind the scenes and a bit of that is going to come your way as well. Sometime in October we'll update the tiers closer to when we're going to implement this change. There will probably also be a public version of this on YouTube. Hell, maybe we'll even make a clickbaity title for the lulz.

Anyway, hopefully after November we'll still have you guys with us on our journey, and if not, no hard feelings. If you have any comments, questions, concerns, or whatever, comment here or on the video. Thanks again everyone!

Thanks Lloyd! I’m glad that’s what you find helpful because I think that will only increase as we make our changes.

Quality over quantity guys! I feel very privileged to have access to your way of thinking, it's not just about the tuts, it's about following your process and you're constantly showing me things I'd never thought of or didn't know was possible, so big ups and really appreciate the time you spend sharing what you experiment with! Peace

Haha, thanks Paul! That makes sense. In the world we're in now everyone wants more and faster. But I know what you mean, it can be hard to keep up from the other side too. It's also hard for us to grow without feeding the YouTube algorithm, but whatever. If it takes longer, it takes longer. At least we'll arrive if we go at a reasonable pace. :)

Seriously, slow it down, guys! Your families and sanity are way more important than churning out tutorials. You could do half or way less of the number of tutorials, and a lot people would probably be relieved because they're having the same issues with balancing work and relationships and you'd be giving them a break as well!

Paul Joannides, Psy.D.
