Quick Tips
Added 2016-11-16 20:07:18 +0000 UTCI've got a couple of quick tips that I haven't yet put into a video.
The Quickest Way to Create a Square (or Circle)
You migh'tve seen this one mentioned in a Workbench tutorial already, but it's going to go in a Quick Tips video. The quickest way to create a square is to double click on the shape tool to add a new rectangle to the composition. It'll fit your comp perfectly. Twirl down to the rectangle's size and scale it until both values are 0. Then just scale it up.
Strobe Light Effect
I don't know how I never noticed this before. I always used to keyframe things that flash like a commoner. Instead, apply the strobe effect. You can leave it set to color or transparency in "strobe". Just make sure you set blend with original to 0%.
Convert Parametric Shape to Bezier
If you create a shape without holding option/alt down you can still make it a bezier shape instead of parametric shape. Just right click on the name of the path, like "Rectangle Path 1" and select "Convert to Bezier Path." One major note: if you intend to keyframe the shape path and you don't want it to go nuts between your keys, make sure you grab your pen tool and pick a vertex. Then go up to Layer > Mask and Shape Path > Set First Vertex.
That's it for now!
