Whew! There was a lot of background painting that had to happen to get this page out, but now the scene should be able to proceed smoothly from here for a few pages.
This is one of those pages that I don't super love how it came out. There were too many moving parts that didn't quite line up. For example:
I didn't plan out the word balloon placement quite well enough for it to flow smoothly without long, garish tails.
The layout on the coat hooks was awkwardly placed so it's hard to tell what's important when the focus is placed on it.
The dialogue was written, rewritten, rewritten, and rewritten, and I'm still not entirely happy with Parsley's side of things. We just didn't quite manage to get to the core of his feelings on this page in a way that communicates well to the reader.
But I always say Tamberlane is a practice comic, and this is a page where I feel like that is a little more fore than usual. Every comic is going to have some pages that don't live up to the artist's expectations, and that's just part of the deal, and I'm comfortable with that. But I do find it interesting to point these things out to you guys, so you can see a little behind the curtain.
To be clear, I'm not saying it's a bad page, just that it fell short of what I wanted it to be, and that is normal and expected.
Anyway. Cur is around! Did you know the last time we saw him was over a year ago in real time? 9u6 holy moly
EDIT: It would help if I attached the image lol
