Feburary will be the last month of Patreon Video Topics for the Shmup Illuminati (None in March)

Here is an update that I am communicating as early as possible. This month, Feb, will be the last month of Patreon topic videos for the shmup Illuminati. I know it's definitely a bummer because that is a really cool patreon reward. However, the reason I am going to discontinue them in March and onward is simply because I don't have the ability to sustain delivering this reward at a high quality moving forward. I also never want to not delivered what I have promised. Febs topic videos are still happening and will start releasing around the 9th or the 10th, and the last few Jan topic vids are coming out the 7th and the 8th. So we're all good for this month.
I do want to emphasize that I have been enjoying making your guys' topic vids and have definitely produced content that I am proud of as a result. However, after spending every single evening working on videos, I realized that this is not something that is sustainable beyond Feb.
So, if you main reason for being a shmup Illuminati is the patreon topic video (which is totally understandable), then you'll want to alter your patronage as you see fit a week or two into March (after the feb charge goes through). Offering this patreon reward has been a ton of fun and I look forward to finishing them with style this month :-)

The topic(s) with the most votes would then get covered in a video. This could be one or more topics per month, depending on how much time is at hand each month.

2020-02-08 12:38:13 +0000 UTCI think rather than ending all together it would be better to stretch it out and make it a one topic per quarter/half year and then make the videos like bi weekly or so that it's somewhat consistent throughout. Anyway I did like the videos you made so far and you deserve a break.

Not just for illuminati, but all patreons :D I definitely like Tsugumo's suggestion of polling for topics every few months and then giving yourself a nice healthy turn around time to make user topic vids. Right now your pace is crazy fast :D

2020-02-08 06:10:05 +0000 UTCNo problem man, you've been pumping vids out like crazy so do whatever's sustainable in the long-run so it doesn't turn into a chore. You could always poll for topics every few months when you need some new content ideas, or let people submit suggestions but just keep them in a list for down the road when you have a creative block and need inspiration for a new video...I'm sure no one would mind if their topic appeared like 6 months from now when it's more convenient for you instead of you grinding them out at light speed trying to keep up this pace when you have other stuff on your plate you want to make lol

It's because I've been getting no sleep and yesterday I sat down and thought ... there is no way this is sustainable. But I think it was a cool way to get the patreon started and give back to the early supporters, a great jump start. But moving into March there are some more big-scale things I want to work on for the channel so it's a sort of a situation where both goals cannot exist at the same time.

I somewhat enjoy your podcasts because the cover a great deal of game design topics that can apply to any game. Also, there's a lot of effort into researching a whole breadth of games covering multiple sections. You may want to have a different way of communicating with your patrons, such as a casual live talk with several patrons, keeping it short and sweet, or something different.
