Patreon pushed a tax update - what you need to know
Added 2020-05-06 22:20:19 +0000 UTCHi all. Patreon has pushed out an update to their payment and charging system that includes a sales tax for SOME patrons. As far as I know, it only applies in the US, and its exact value can vary from state to state - apparently it's between 1-10%.
Patreon are laying that charge on you as the "customer" as it were, so for some of you that might mean an increase in your monthly billing across everyone you support. If you need to discontinue your pledge or lower it because of this, you should get that done before a new billing cycle begins (i.e. before the end of the month) - and as ever, PLEASE don't feel bad about canceling or lowering a pledge, only support me at whatever level you can comfortably do without causing yourself any trouble!
