It's Friday again and September is almost over! Time is passing at full speed, right? 🤔
How are you all doing? We’ve been feeling quite overwhelmed lately, and there’s a few reasons for that: getting the next TYL update ready, writing Patreon content, trying to keep our social media alive, and juggling it all with our personal lives and full-time jobs... But we won’t give up! It's time to move forward, with a smile on our faces and full of enthusiasm 💪
As you already know, it’s about time we publish the second extra content of September (“Reaction: what would each LI do if they suddenly lost all contact with you?”), and we have decided to do it on September 29th. So very soon you will know how each LI would react if their friendship with the MC suddenly came to an end and they were unable to talk to her anymore. Yeah. we know, sounds pretty dramatic... but who doesn't like drama? Annnngst… 😈
On another note, Vera is still working on the translation. Currently, she has already translated approximately 75% of the new content. For now, she managed to translate every chat from Day 4, so only the calls are left!! Each passing day she looks a little bit more like a zombie, but she says that once the translation is finished, and she catches some sleep and goes out into the sunlight again, her skin color will recover and she won't look dead anymore 😅 Stay strong, Vera!
Ah! Speaking of calls… There is one thing that we have never told you about them, and we think you could find it interesting. When we prepare a call, in addition to planning and writing the conversation that the characters will have, we need to imagine the scenario in which that conversation takes place. It’s important for us to know about the surroundings of the MC in every situation, and even more important what the character she’s talking to is doing in that moment. Where are they? Are they on the street, driving, or inside a building? Are they alone or with other people? This is so important because, in order to make the call sound real, we have to decide which sounds will be necessary to achieve that.
For example, in the call where the MC talks to her mother on the way to class, we had to look for different sounds such as the car engine, a car window going up and down, the parking brake... And that is just the first step. Then, we have to think in what order those sounds go, when some are silenced and others are activated, if they will repeat... all that making sure there are no strange cuts or silences, and that they sound natural. Programming a call is a lot of work, but aren’t the results of that work quite cool? 😃
Oh, and we have added something new in this update. Sounds are what gives life to calls and we like them a lot, but... what happens with those people who can't hear them? It's a shame that they can't because, thanks to them, you get a lot of information that can't be obtained though words, so we had an idea. From now on, during the calls, everytime a sound that’s key to the story is played, a brief explanation of it will also appear in the text box. For example, if you hear the parking brake of the character’s car, the text will say “* Parking brake sound *”. What do you think of this idea? 😊
