I hate this book so much. This book is supposed to be set in the mid to late 2040s. My daughter born in 2007 knows none of these idiotic 80s and 90s (and 00s) references.

2020-12-09 16:40:27 +0000 UTCThe whole book feels to me like an essay written the night before it's due, and everything makes more sense to me when I see it in that light: Not thinking through the ramifications of this society? Last-minute writing. Use of terrible cliches and also lazy shortcuts that aren't even cliches (e.g. heavy metal face)? Last-minute writing. Not knowing what happened in his last book and repeating things from chapter-to-chapter in *this* book? Last-minute writing. No apparent editing? Last minute writing.
