Shadow Moon Ep. 66 - We Come to Bury Burys
Added 2020-01-10 18:43:52 +0000 UTCA shocking Very Special Episode! A first in the history of the podcast, possibly a first for any podcast!
The smelly, repugnant, filth-caked, farm-animal-of-a-girl Elora is discussed at length which leads to not one BUT two shocking bathroom tales from Mike and Conor! (Can you get that from Conan's podcast, I think not?!)
All the departments are here, and it's just possible that Mike is hitting his stride in Real or Fanfic.
Plus: We discuss the appearance in Shadow Moon of a literal "hell of a rig".
EDIT: Neglected to give the reading assignment which is... wait for it... brace yourselves... yep... FINISH THE BOOK. (We know you're not going to do that so sorry for the fake drama.)

2020-01-13 19:31:10 +0000 UTCWait....someone pooped INSIDE the beer cooler? How does that....why did he...WHAT?

2020-01-13 18:11:44 +0000 UTCI'm glad I'm not the only one who's secretly twelve inside. So, I work at a grocery store doing pricing when I'm not drawing. I was hanging tags in our beer cooler one morning when I took a step to the left and heard a sound that I can only describe as... Sticky. Looking down, I discovered that my foot was planned firmly in the biggest, gnarliest growler I'd ever seen in my life. Not only that, but it appeared to be produced by someone who lived on a diet of Cheetos and carrots, because it was BRIGHT orange. I hopped out of our beer cooler on one foot, delivering the unfortunate news to the maintenance guy who'd have to clean it up (while I rinsed my shoe.) I thought our overnight freight lead was going to have a stroke from laughing.

2020-01-13 16:32:23 +0000 UTCWell, as a man who occasionally has a very juvenile sense of humor, I was utterly delighted by the horrible poop stories in the first half of the podcast (and was reminded of one of my own, which I will definitely share if encouraged.)

2020-01-13 15:11:21 +0000 UTCI listen to Fanfic or Real for the comedy. More cream pies, please!

2020-01-13 03:38:27 +0000 UTCI am finishing this book, damn it. Then I am going to trick my cousin into reading it, because he still claims that Willow was a great movie.

2020-01-12 22:07:50 +0000 UTC20 minutes in to the episode and I have to stop. The only book I've actually read that's been in this podcast was The Eye of Argon, and I've been able to follow every book summary so far, but I am having the *worst* time keeping track of this one. I expect part of that is definitely that it's confusing, but also hope that part of is that Mike and Connor aren't super immersed in fantasy bullshit-- a lot of the terminology that's confused them is pretty mundane if you're already familiar with 'generic fantasy bullshit', but since it's not in common parlance it becomes just a tangle of ridiculous jargon on top of already deeply-flawed writing. (See: Last episode where the 'fire drakes' were mentioned in Fanfic or Real and Connor wonders if they're going to be encountering volcanic ducks. While that would be delightful, 'drake' is a common synonym for 'dragon' in fantasy works. ) So you've finally forced my hand -- and my wallet -- to buy one of these books and see if I can suss out what the hell is actually happening. I expect I'm going to be grudging you guys those twenty bucks for the rest of my life. :/

2020-01-12 03:03:56 +0000 UTCGracious Podcast Hosts, Are we doing one last fan fic segment? Maybe those with the other books could submit real options to you guys from one of the sequels to Shadow Moon?

2020-01-11 20:24:07 +0000 UTCI am the other Mike Nelson who threw out my copy after reading it. This was the worst book ever on 372 pages. Thanks for answering my question if any riffed movie was worse than this. This book really was like watching all five Transformers movies back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back.

2020-01-11 04:42:47 +0000 UTCI'm reading it, but I'm making no effort to understand it. This train's flying off the rails and all I can do is hold on.

2020-01-11 01:59:06 +0000 UTCLooking forward to a podcast with Katelyn, Conor's friend Brian, and Mike's son.

2020-01-10 23:22:19 +0000 UTCI stopped understanding the plot of this book since chapter 2 so I'm really excited about listening to the end. Why do the authors hate Elora so much? Will she redeem herself or is she going to die horribly? Anything could happen. Great episode!

2020-01-10 21:06:56 +0000 UTCFor those also reading the hard cover, the duplicated passage Conor mentions are the end of the second paragraph on page 335 and the last paragraph of page 339. :)
