That book is coming!

"We often don’t really expect a learner to make heads or tails of an instruction until we show them how. An instruction is often intertwined with a justification and -especially in the case of more complex explanations- it is in fact the justification together with the example that takes the spotlight; the actual instruction can just be the gel that binds the rest together. As such, it would be a sorrowful thing if getting hung up on the instruction itself obscured what we aimed to teach. Apart from the measures described earlier to avoid this, we often cue our learner to maybe not expect to understand an instruction until they get the example. In this way we again draw focus away from our wording and onto what we must 'do'. Once justifications, instructions and examples have all played their roles, what is left behind are these movements or manipulations the learner is making in the new language, rather than the easily corruptible ‘middle-man’ of linguistic instruction."

I'm still working harder than I should on the Thinking Method Guidebook to get a rough edition out in around a month or so for comments! A month later I'll be making the final tweaks to go to print and voila... the guide to become an LT teacher will be a thing!

Thank you for all your support which has allowed me to focus entirely on this book for the time it has needed to take! I can't wait for it to be out and to start sourcing new LT teachers!

For those of you on $10+ tiers,  you will be entitled to a free hardcopy of this book and any other coming LT publication! Otherwise, the book can be preordered here and will also be available as a free PDF once released! https://www.languagetransfer.org/non-shop/tmguidebook
