Ikea Houses Next Door to the Old Japanese Farm House

One of those contradictions and paradoxes. Things in Japan are either really fast or really slow. In this case, both! Also many efficiencies and optimisations are seen as someone being lazy and discouraged, yet this very efficient building method is seen as normal and good! As someone who likes efficiency, I'm all for it.

Ikea House..... agree. Not at all Post and Beam tradition of Japan. The crew is young, 1/2 day at gunnery school, to learn not to nail your Jika-tabi to the floor! another hour of post reading. They carry very large tool pouches on their belts with not many tools needed. The posts are just itty bitty things the size of a fencepost in Ontario. This is the land of volcanoes, earthquakes, monsoons and Tsunami. And they build like that........ in 20 years it won't be recycled...... demolished. Speedy too! I wonder though, if any of the old scary Japanese ghosts would ever haunt one of these places? cheers..... excellent episode, Jerry
