New Sketch

Found a new idea that somehow came up when I combined some sketches from my idea list - sometimes things like this can't really be solely developed in our minds only, but one has to "go into the water", so sketch around and try to get a feel for what is working and what isn't.
The building on the cliff that I first imagined as a Roman round temple turned into a tower all of a sudden, only to land at some sort of research station. I really like the idea of it being a post office with doves or so, but it wouldn't make sense to have it so far outside of a city. It could be a research station for charms or something similar. I am not so sure about the lighting yet, what is clear to me is that I'd like the character to be a woman, although one will probably not see it too clearly at this distance, and the dove that she is sending abroad will create a contrast against the dark sea behind it. I'd like the building and the woman to be a clear focal point here, no matter the lighting. I'm also playing with the thought to install a small sign or so next to the path that gives us some information about the building ahead, so something like "Royal Mage Guild Research Station: Charms & Potions" or so, but don't want the sign to distract us too much from what is important in the drawing. We'll see. The time to draw is flowing back into my life, so I'm looking forward to doing the linework for this one!
