Honesty, decency, and civic-minded behaviour aside, what REALLY amazes me is that the one and only sign I can see on this storefront is in English. I live in the Province of Quebec, in Canada. The government here is so fearful of the loss of their cultural identity by the encroachment of the devil's language of English, that they have legally banned all English-only signage, and have codified French as the only official language of the Province. If you want to put up an English language sign, it must be 1/4th the size of the French one otherwise you'll be subject to escalating fines. Japanese store owner with English-only sign: "WHAT threat to our cultural identity..?"
