Uboa - Every Angle Ache All Too Much (WIP)

Another WIP, using... the tin whistle! Another collage-y one (started in 2024), with a big Sludge Section. I got stuck with this one around the heavy section with the baritone guitar, and wasn't entirely happy with the length (the crescendo it feels too short) and the guitar tone used (I have a better amp now). However I think it is salvageable - I just need to take a break from the song a bit. Also features - the gore machine, hydrasynth, piano and junk percussion. No vocals yet, as usual (minus choirs) - but was thinking shoegaze ones and some spoken word. However I think the vibe is interesting - mixing both lofi and hifi styles in a way that seems both futuristic and old at the same time.

I strongly recommend this approacjh to other ADHD'ers who struggle to finish songs- work on the thing you have dopamine, and when the dopamine runs out (i.e. you get bored/stuck) - take an extended break from the song and let yourself "forget" it to a certain degree. Thus when you are bored and wanting to work music again, you finish it as it seems "new" due to the fact you forgot about it, thus giving you the executive function to finish it. All of my finished work uses this method. Yes, you get a LOT of unfinished things floating around - so back up your storage! Since some of you have stated you like the WIPs, this is also good as I have a LOT WIPs than finished songs, and getting encouragement helps me find the energy to finish it - and lack of tells me to direct my energies elsewhere. I have a LOT more WIPs to show you. Fatigue + ADHD often = a lot of unfinished work done in the "boom" periods, with work stopping on the song when I get tired. But it does allow me to try lots of ideas rather than commit to a single one.

If you think it's worth finishing off, let me know.

Yeah, there is a reason impossible light took 7 years to finish. It wasn't just perfectionism and extreme attention to detail... I have other unfinished projects that are even older. I just need to back up my stuff which is the biggest risk of waiting a long time.

thankyou for listening to my music! My ADHD is often a hinderence and makes me even more prone to burnout... however it also kinda helps. I get bored easily, so when listening back to my songs it can kinda help as it can tell me where to make a song more interesting. It's also why I tend to gravitate towards hyper-detailed sound design. So it's not all bad I guess. And yeah, the side effects can be nasty! If anything, I don't feel like my meds are effective enough, but really lifestyle changes are just as - if not more - important.

Oh yes, I can only validate that. Creative tasks especially become a tarpit once they stop being a thing I can immerse in and become backlog. The guilt around backlog doesn't help either. And letting them rest really does turn them into advanced points for starting off.Had that a lot this spring with projects randomly coming together after years of intermittent dormancy.

Having dealt with ADHD most of my life (I'm almost 65) along with dissociation and depression has certainly gave me plenty of challenges and roadblocks. Couldn't take medication because of the really nasty side effects I had (except Welibutrin, didnt work for my depression but I ended a 40 year smoking habit with no withdrawals) do I had to deal with it day by day. Struggling to finish things is a difficult task, but not impossible. I do exactly as you suggested and it does make things easier. I do enjoy listening to your music and I hope your ADHD doesn't hinder you too much. I wish you well and thank you for some really good music. Rich K aka Th' RoofRabbit
