Another poll

Had a couple people comment on the slow zoom that's present during the game for some renders and claimed it was unpleasant or caused a strobe effect as one person put it. I think this might be a system specific thing where it doesn't function as intended on a small number of systems. Anyway, regardless, let me know what you guys think and I'll make any necessary changes.

Thanks to everyone that has voted so far. The opinions on the slow zooms in the game mostly ranged from irrelevant to problematic so I have decided to remove them entirely from the game. I did a playthrough with them off and although I feel like some scenes are more impactful with them on, I don't think it really makes the game worse. And if it solves the stuttering on older, less powerful systems then it's worth it. Thanks again guys, you're helping me make the game better!

Bobby, if it is very easy to put in but gives problems for some, why not put it in but give an option in the settings to either see them activated or not?

Thanks Johnny! I appreciate the feedback.

I like the Zoom. However, not for every scene as your reading and experiencing the story. For select hot scenes, absolutely. It looks good too. But when any zoom fades too fast while trying to enjoy the view of the current image or animation, or when trying to read the story as it happens, that can be a bit annoying lol. Suggestion: You should keep the zooming feature to a minimum, and remove some or all timers on pauses / fades between scenes to give more control to the user for them to better experience your AVN fully. Using zoom and timed fades on select hot scenes would be good, but keeping it to a minimum would probably be best. Overall, you did a great job, my friend. Keep up the good works! Cheers!

That's what I suspected, that the older systems can't smoothly do the zoom. I just took all the zooms out and did a full playthrough and it still looks good and a bit better in some cases, especially when there would be a zoom on one render and then the next render would be in the same position except a different facial expression and so it jumps back. I think this is a good quality of life change for the game. Thanks for the feedback!

I wasn't bothered by the zoom effect until the last render of the current update (eb1141), mainly because the closer it zoomed in the more of Kathryn's body disappeared beyond the bottom edge of the frame. I agree with Ryknight5 that it adds a little pizzazz to the 'Internal Conflict' moments, so it's definitely not a deal-breaker if you decide to keep the zoom but if you do maybe be mindful of what's lost at the edges of the frame when you're putting the renders together. Also, I've not experienced anything like the strobing effect that one person had - but I've played the game on two separate PCs (one old and crappy, the other newer and nicer) and definitely got the slight stuttering effect on the older PC.

Yeah I like it too, but I don't think it works consistently well enough on enough systems.

I like the zoom effect when characters are having an internal dialogue/struggle. It gives the reader a sense of the struggle that the character is having while they weigh their options back and forth and is a nice visual touch instead of staring at a static render.

Still great job on the game dude. Love the story and situations, very high quality stuff. Congrats. I hope your Patreon keeps growing and things go good for you

It's dead simple to add, so it's no big deal. I can take it out. Doesn't make much difference to me if people would rather it's not there. Thanks for your consideration!

I think I'm just going to remove it. I thought it looked good but maybe it just works ideally on my system. It's hard to say.

I love your game though, that’s why I subscribed. I saw you were feeling overwhelmed balancing work and life. I would say fancy stuff like the zoom is nice to have but if not having to add zoom to the game makes things easier for you than that’s better. Then you can focus on making new content and have less work.

"Nauseating" is a little stronger than I'd put it, but it's definitely less desirable rather than more. Renpy's interpolation just isn't smooth, and it ends up doing these micro-stutters as it pans out. I know there are more ways than one to do the same effect through the ATL language, I just don't know them.

Pr0GamerJohnny

I usually just skip the zooms for time
