Very good points, especially about Cassian wanting to find somewhere quiet. Syril was dropping his weapon. But really it was too late for that. Same for Kloris. One thing: Vel did NOT say anything about Luthen. Not a word. She is the only one who knew his name. And Cassian had seen him, but had no idea who he was. Vel never mentioned him to anyone. Lonni Jung came in clutch once again!

Mark Walston

The man who said "that's mine" to Vel is Melshi. The guy that escaped prison with Cassian. That's why they zoomed in on him.

It never gets old that they could have a character introduced to them and then forget who the character is 3 episodes later because they are horrible with faces lol

TimTakDoh

yes, we make our plans around frieren 😁

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! If you guys have to pre-film stuff, do we still get Frieren on Monday?! :(

They havent seen any other Star Wars media im p sure, so that might be spoiling things.

What did M say? 'I love everyone who tries. Every fucking one'. What a profound and beautiful message in times like these. Could have been ripped right from the show. Not enough of us are trying. A central theme of this show is sacrifice. To try, in times like these, to do the right thing, is to sacrifice. We need to love those who try, and perhaps we need to love the sacrifice itself.

Senator Bail Organa is Leia's Foster Father and the Senator of Alderaan. The "It's My People Today and Your People Tomorrow" is a subtle hint to the destruction of Alderaan in the original Star Wars movie by the Death Star.

I love all the callbacks to season 1: "If you're brave enough to stay. I should be brave enough to go" paralleling that scene with Andor and his mom who needed to stay, and Cass needed to go. Bravery in their own way. The scene as Mon gets whisked off to Yavin as she looks back as the Senate building, leaving her past life behind. That's a callback to season 1 as Luthen whisked Cassian away to begin his new life in the rebellion. When Cass says "We'll find somewhere quiet" also callback to season 1 when Cass wanted to run away with his mom to somewhere quiet, away from the empire when he was needed somewhere (as the Force healer mentioned). In season 1 when Nemik was dying (from the weight of capital crushing him), there was a brief discussion where Vel and Cassian was arguing whether to continue with the mission or take Nemik to the hospital. I can't recall that line but I vaguely recall Vel saying "Luthen wants ..." which I think is a call back to the line "What does Luthen want?" "He wants Wil to be taken to a doctor". Regarding your discussion on whether Kloris the driver was flipping, I wasn't sure either. But if you rewatch episode 8, it looked like Karn was about to flip 3s before he got shot. I like how the show mentioned that it was Yung's agent that is secretly working with ISB to capture the Senator....which is how Luthen knows Bail Organa's team was corrupted. Jung leaked it to him.

Stunning episode. "The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil." "Welcome to the rebellion." Fitting quote/title.

Thank you always for enjoying Japanese anime. I wanted to leave a comment to recommend an anime that I truly hope you will watch someday. If you enjoyed heartwarming series like Frieren, Hunter x Hunter, and One Piece, there is an anime called Space Brothers. It may not be very well-known overseas, but it is quite famous in Japan. The anime is based on a manga. The manga is currently approaching its final stage, while the anime covers only part of the story so far. There has been no announcement yet about whether the anime will adapt the story to the very end, but even as it is, the anime is truly enjoyable on its own. It’s a very warm and touching story about the bond between brothers, friendship, and chasing dreams. For me β€” and I believe for many others β€” it’s a series that warms the heart. From your videos, I feel that the two of you share a sensitivity similar to that of many Japanese viewers. This isn’t a trendy, action-focused anime like Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen, but you don’t seem like the type to choose only popular titles, so I wanted to recommend it for the first time. The well-known reactors, the SOS Brothers, are currently watching Space Brothers, and it’s a show that moves them to tears every time. If you ran a poll, it might not get selected since many people overseas may not know it. But if you’re interested, I truly hope you’ll give it a try. I’m always looking forward to your videos. With love from Japan.

The man at Yavin who Vel asked about the gun? That's Melshi. He was the one who escaped from prison with Cassian last season.

Doc_Holliday

It was the "corporate issue" blaster, which Cassian took from Syril (a "Corpo" security officer) when first escaping from Ferrix with Luthen to Aldhani. On Aldhani, Skeen was inspecting, on Vel's orders, Cassian's belongings the morning after his sudden addition to the heist team. Cassian stored the blaster, along with his money from the heist and Nemik's manifesto, in a security box on that shelf in the shower room of the hotel or guest room on the resort planet Niamos, where Cassian was arrested. When Cassian escaped Narkina and returned to Niamos with Melshi, he also gave that blaster to him before they parted ("We have to split up, double our chances"), on that beach at sunset (sunrise?), after he found out Maarva has passed and was about to return to Ferrix for her funeral. Vel therefore recognized that blaster and knew that whoever it belonged to was therefore likely had some connection to Cassian.

"I love every one of them. Every single one who tries." My favorite quote from this reaction

Mark Walston

it's melshi with the gun. he's the man that cassian escaped narkina 5 with, and i believe the gun has significance to vel because she gave it to cassian on aldhani and he passed it on to melshi (though i may be wrong about that part)
