I started to make a friend who was 1/2 Swedish like me. My family did not do much Swedish stuff, my mom wanted to assimilate and didn't want to do a lot of Swedish things which was fine.. This woman I started to be friends with showed me all these recipes and all this Swedish stuff which was cool and we started to do a few traditional Swedish things.. as we hung out more and more I found out she was really racist.. I started distancing myself from her because all these Swedish things she did made me feel wierd.. like it had some racist bent. I decided to not be friends anymore. By the way I always knew my mom was racist, even though she wasn't outright about it. So I'm not very into Swedish things at all anymore and I don't do those Swedish things because in my experience it has a racist quality, unfortunately.
