I thought he was a literature teacher because he's always quoting poetry or writing his own. I don't know though. He is definitely a teacher and the club supervisor.

"I don't know where the accent goes." - lol, yep, that's the problem for Westerners. Japanese is a non-stress-inflective language. There is no accent or emphasis. It's really difficult for Westerners to get their heads around the idea so, if you have to slightly stress one syllable over the others then ALWAYS stress the first syllable. Like I said, no syllable should be stressed but stressing the first syllable is closest to accurate in all cases.

Caradoc Elmet

"he looks like a history teacher" hahahaha

DB

Wait I was kind of tuned out in the intro did Milena think Takeda was a random adult looking after high school students? Because that's hilarious

Shugoshin

What I love about this show is that is takes a bit to set up the characters and all the teams in the competition. Then it’s just awesome volleyball matches

dont tell us that u watch 2 episodes, if u dont give us a double drop :-(

Marshall_Four_Twenty

Same! I was surprised to hear that's considered short in Serbia hahah here where I live it's pretty average

Aris

I am as tall/short as Milena hahahah

Lau

Damn, Lola is as tall as me? Oh yeah you guys are Serbian, that makes sense. Weirdly enough that makes Lola more attractive and I never think of the girls like that... Just saying, it's pretty cool

Karabo

Oh man I can't wait for the next episode. It's been really good so far but for me, This is where Haikyu really kicks off

Karabo

"azumane" (what those strangers called asahi) is his last name! several of our boys are actually referred to by their last names. usually in japan, a first name is used when you're close with the person but it's also just a matter of preference 😃 so if you hear a different name being used for someone, it's just the other part of their name (to what you're used to them being called) e.g. hinata = last name kageyama = last name tsukki (tsukishima) = last name tanaka = last name noya (nishinoya) = last name asahi = first name suga (sugawara) = last name daichi = first name oikawa = last name also your pronunciations are totally fine, i only remember okayawa for oikawa (but honestly it was really cute LOL)

wing-yi

In japanese school club system, each club has a teacher to supervise.

Minime

Yeah, the school year in Japan starts in April and ends in March of the following year. Most schools adopt a three-semester system, with the first semester from April to August, the second semester from September to December, and the third semester from January to March.

ODIS

where are u from ? sand fl

Vicente de Paulo Guimaraes Priante

the foot + ics on karasuno’s jerseys is a play on the shoe brand asics. the japanese word for foot is ashi so ashi + ics

Sebastian

I just got emotional thinking how much Hinata would admire and compliment Lola for being tall (ᗒᗨᗕ)

bondbond53

Yes Aoba Johsai is called Seijoh as it's the abbreviation of the two words based on the kanji. The first kanji for Aoba can be read as Sei to. The meaning behind their name in general is Blue Castle thus the turquoise uniforms. Date Tech is also called Dateko because in Japanese Tech is Kogyo so again an abbreviation.

bondbond53

Oh! There's two teams that have alternative names: Aoba Johsai is also called Seijoh and Date Tech is also called Dateko. They're pretty interchangeable, sometimes you'll hear them called the first way other times the second way but just know that they're still talking about teams you already know.

Aris

You guys getting so emotional at the Kageyama outro is why you're my favourite reactors

bondbond53

Young blonde Coach Ukai's given name is Keishin. Ukai Keishin. His grandpa, the OG Coach Ukai, is Ukai Ikkei. "Senpai" is an upperclassman or elder. "Sensei" is a teacher or master.

rrrebo

Takeda is one of the biggest reasons this story even exists. He could've easily shrugged off his advisory role and just left the volleyball team alone for the most part but he took an overly proactive approach bc he's a GOAT! He's also a really helpful way to explain the rules of volleyball to the audience.

KIMI

the intro I CANNOT hahaha thank you for the laughs as always <3 edit: i think the name you mispronouce sometimes is oikawa (just mixing up the letters), i don't think there's any problem with the rest honestly

Aris

nothing too unusual though. people drive like crazy here, specially at night and they never respect the bike lane. at least i was not distracted and my brakes are good because the woman was going fast as hell. at least she had the decency to say sorry, some people just flip you off or yell at you 😑

sand_fl

Takeda sensei teaches Japanese Literature and that's where he pulls those great quotes and words of wisdom from 💖 I love him so much. Without him, Karasuno will never be the same. Even if he doesn't know how to play volleyball, he loves our boys so much that he begs other teams to play with them. He also begs Ukai (Jr. lol) to coach them because he knows their potential. He may not be helpful for technical volleyball knowledge but he's always there in the background looking out for what's best for our boys 💖💖💖

Katsumi

nikki what? 😂 glad you’re okay

LM Reactions

Takeda-sensei is absolutely a teacher. I have no idea if there is a canon subject that he teaches, but since he’s always worried about being “overly poetic” I always imagined him teaching literature or something adjacent

RPSiege

It’s funny how Karasuno makes their entrance , because in sports movies and shows, the team with black uniforms is usually portrayed as the bad guys with a frightening presence

refo44

a car almost run me over on my way back home 💀💀💀 i feel like i deserve the serotonin of this show right now 😂
