2024-07-11 08:21:45 +0000 UTCNot at all. Buddha, yes. Togashi uses plenty of religious symbolism, more so Kurapika for Christianity, Catholicism for Kite. But only inspirations, not reflections of the actual faiths aforementioned. Netero and Ging both hold obvious Buddhistic inspiration. And in a very tangible sense, all hunters have that tunnel-visioned drive, religiously devoted to whatever they're hunting. But in Ging's case, it's the willingness to sacrifice all earthly attachments that feels so Buddhistic in his character arc. Although, even though I'm sure he understands a great deal of the weight of his mistakes, I do think a true eccentric like him found Buddhism much more compatible to his sense of self. I just wish Gon had let the tape play, so we'd have an idea of how Ging met Gon's mother. That would've been hugely helpful, in terms of context. Because Ging does NOT come off as someone interested in romantic, or even sexual engagements LOL. Sooooo... how the hell 😂

One after 147, and one after 148. --Spoilers below-- For ep 147, a small translation thing. The entire show, Gon calls Killua his best friend using the word Tomodachi (Special/Close Friend). But at the end of 147, when he says "We'll always be friends" he uses the word Nakama (Co-worker, teamate, comrade, acquaintance). Togashi is very particular about the words he uses so this was definitely intentional. I won't go further on what it means because I'm more curious about your thoughts on Gon and Killua's relationship at the end here. -- For after 148 From the Manga, Gon has a short conversation that's essentially his final thoughts on the journey that I know you girls might want to read. 2024-07-07 23:56:43 +0000 UTCAt this point, I'd vote for Monster just b/c it'd be a downfall from their hubris of already buying Haikyuu shirts and thats just comedy to me. Imagine ep 1 of Monster and they're in Karasuno shirts. Hilarious. (I have not seen either anime)
