You Don’t Lack Talent. You Lack Consistency.

Repetition is often considered to be the key to mastery in any field, yet many people find it difficult to stay motivated and engaged when faced with repetitive tasks.
The monotony and tedium of repetition can quickly become overwhelming, leading to boredom and a lack of focus. As a result, only a select few ever achieve true mastery in their chosen field.
The truth is that repetition is an essential component of mastery. In order to develop the muscle memory and mental focus necessary to excel, it is often necessary to repeat a task many times over.
However, the difficulty lies in maintaining focus and motivation during this process. It takes a special kind of dedication and mental fortitude to push through the boredom and tedium that comes with repetition.
Excellence is not a singular act, it is a habit. You are what you do repeatedly.
Consistency is the dumbest way to succeed in history.
Consistency has been a big part of my supposed “dumb luck.”
But way too many people focus on talent and skills.
They overeducate or read books to procrastinate. As a result, their life goals are left on the floor to rot like a dead horse carcass.
Once you’re an adult you should be smart enough to understand poor consistency ruins your life more than a lack of talent.
Lack of talent is an excuse. Consistency has no excuses.
There’s no cure for a lack of talent.
So it serves as a sexy excuse to do nothing and delay goals until the never-ending future. Consistency doesn’t have any excuses.
“Did you do it today? Yes or no.”
Consistency is a powerful tool that can reveal the truth about our actions and motivations.
By committing to a consistent effort, we are forced to confront the lies we tell ourselves to avoid taking action and facing our fears.
When we are inconsistent in our efforts, we can easily justify our lack of progress with excuses and rationalisations.
We might tell ourselves that we're "too busy", that we don't have the necessary resources, or that we're simply not capable of achieving our goals.
These lies allow us to avoid taking action and confronting the things we fear, but they ultimately hold us back from achieving our full potential.
Personal goals are where we struggle the most, as jobs are already structured with built-in consistency.
Jobs come with built-in consistency.
With a job, you have to show up. If you don’t, you don’t get paid. Do that for long enough and your ass gets fired real fast.
We have set tasks, deadlines, and expectations that help us stay on track and meet our goals.
So the magic of consistency is built into a job which is why many of people succeed in their careers long-term
But when it comes to our personal goals, we often struggle to maintain the same level of consistency.
The truth is, personal goals require a different kind of commitment than our jobs do.
We have to take ownership of our goals and make a consistent effort to achieve them, even when there are no external structures in place to help us stay on track.
Nobody forces you to show up. If you don’t show up there are no consequences. And you can easily cover your inconsistent tracks with various clever excuses.
The trouble is consistency with our personal goals accounts for much of our success in life. And it’s often our personal goals that can help us escape jobs we hate, reach freedom, or maybe work for ourselves one day.
“Repetition can be boring or tedious, which is why so few people ever master anything.”
Consistency is a critical component of success in any area of life.
However, many people struggle to maintain consistency because it can be easy to get bored or feel like they're not making any progress.
In order to maintain consistency, it's important to have a clear understanding of why we're pursuing our goals in the first place.
We need to have a strong sense of purpose and a clear vision of what we want to achieve, so that we can stay motivated even when thing get tough.
It's also important to track our progress over time, so that we can see the results of our consistent effort.
Even if progress seems slow at first, seeing incremental improvements can help us stay motivated and committed over the long-term.
Here's where most people go wrong.
Too many mistake consistency for intensity.
They’ll put plenty of effort in for short bursts during convenient times like holidays. Then they’ll forget about their goal for a while.
The inconsistency ruins any insights that consistency would have created.
Because consistency produces patterns, and patterns can be analysed for breakthroughs that lead to the next level of growth.
Consistency is where the real money is made
One of the issues is we try to be consistent with goals we don’t actually love enough to do them.
That’s why it’s a bad idea to have a side hustle or hobby you don’t love.
You simply won’t do it and will give up VERY EASILY because you’re trying for the wrong reasons.
I've seen soo many people fall into spending thousands on programmes and courses mainly because of the money they desire to make not understanding it takes a WHILE before the money starts raining.
At the beginning of their journey, they may be excited and motivated, fuelled by their desire for success and financial gain.
However, as soon as they hit setbacks or encounter difficulties, their motivation can quickly wane, and they may begin to doubt whether they can actually achieve their goals.
This can be a major stumbling block that leads many people to quit before they've even given themselves a chance to succeed.
What these people often fail to realise is that success is not an overnight process. It takes time and effort to build a successful business or career, and setbacks and difficulties are a natural part of the process.
When you’re consistent at goals you love the consistency eventually makes you good.
When you get good that’s when you can make real money from it.
Whilst it's good to know when to quit something which is CLEARLY not working, you also want to give yourself a chance to succeed by not immediately giving up when encountering the first signs of difficulty.
Read that again.
The next level of consistency that will leave you speechless
Consistency is level one.
Obsession is level two.
I’d be wasting your time if I told you to use consistency and stop there. The next level is obsession.
Becoming so deeply committed and invested in an activity that it becomes all you think about, and that you spend every spare moment practicing and perfecting your skills.
It’s to take an activity and become so obsessed that it’s all you think about. It’s to spend every spare minute or hour you have practicing it in public.
Consistency + Obsession = Top 1% in the world
That’s the secret I’ve learned from studying 1000s of high performers in (EVERY INDUSTRY) over the last 8 years to unlock how they became successful.
We only become obsessed with an activity when we’re consistent enough with it to realise we love it or to notice how it positively changes how we feel after we do it.
Too many people try something once or twice and then give up.
Obsession, too, is found after monotonous practice and exploration.
What this all means for you
Not everyone is born with a special god given talent.
Talent is the byproduct of being consistent with a goal for long enough to see the results and extract some measurable insights.
Talent can only take you so far.
There other people who are talented academically, the ones who are consistent with their studies are the ones who get there foot into amazing career fields.
There are other people who are talented with athletic abilities, the ones who are consistent (and obsessed) with mastering their skill, are the ones who end up making it as professional athletes.
There are a lot of people who have a natural ability at whatever it may be, but what stops them from excelling is that they have a lack of consistency and a lack of obsession with what they have been blessed with and someone with lesser talent but MORE consistency and obsession ends up overtaking and outshining them.
Consistency can take your life to places you could never dream of.
