2022-10-01 19:44:44 +0000 UTCI once saw Bill Maher at a fancy restaurant in Los Angeles. It was the restaurant for an upscale hotel on Sunset Boulevard, situated next to the hotel pool. I was with a few people in the smoking section of the outdoor seating area. I smoked several cigarettes over drinks before our meal was served. Halfway through dinner, Bill Maher steps out to smoke a joint near the pool. His weed smoke starts wafting over the smoking area and immediately someone a couple tables away asks their server to get the maitre'd so they could complain. The maitre'd walks over to Maher and I couldn't hear the conversation but I instinctively knew it went like this in undertone if not what was actually said: "Excuse me sir, you're not important enough to get away with shit. Please stub out your joint and leave." Maher was pretty much done with his joint by then, so he stubbed it out immediately and left without a fuss. I went over to see if I could get Maher's roach and the cheap fuck had pocketed it. I know that's lame, but in my defense: this was like during that brief period where Maher sucked a little less. After his "we got off pretty easy with 9/11" comments and before he made Religulous and used his atheism as an excuse to be a huge Islamophobe. Or at least before he became widely known as one.
