Ey Ngwana wa ko gae. This is very surprising mare not really given the way re usang internet ka teng as South Africans

Karabo

Seeing a South African mo di reaction tsa milena and lola is so shocking

STARDUST.

Someone finally talking about this! I'm sure that Milena and Lola, being fans of the dynamic between Gon and Killua would have loved to know about this. It just adds so much more complexity and angst to their dynamic and it deeply saddens me how it was mistranslated.

mvri

Well-put, AE. Their arcs are laid out by the name question: Pouf- You are the King. You have no other name. Youpi- Your question is far beyond my capacity. I cannot think of a way to provide an answer Pitou- I believe your feelings are what matter most. Youpi has evolved his presence in this world

Isaac

just wanting to see the king and hear his voice is so relatable lol

Amber

is consequential not tragic, of course that dying is tragic but his gesture is not. That cringe scene in the movie where Killua tries to kill himself after failing to protect Gon is tragic and fits the description, Killua in the anime and in the manga is a different person with a different and healthier personality. Ikalgo is willing to die for the sake of his friends, Gon is willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of his friends (same goes for Leorio); Knuckle is willing to die for the sake of his boss, he asks Youpi to let him go and to kill him etc. the tragic one is Killua tho...? The distinction she makes is because of the "romantization" of Gon and Killua and the misinterpretation of Killua's words and psychology.

Yū Nishinoya

Killua dying because he refuses to abandon his best friend is absolutely tragic.

Shivering King Banana

Pitou is scared, he didn't want to take any risk, he had no nen and contrary to Pouf he doesn't understimate Gon. Gon didn't threaten to kill anyone but Pitou in previous episodes and not only threatening to kill Komugi wouldn't be consistent with Gon's behavior in 120 episodes (that's the room that I read) but it wouldn't make sense...if Gon kills Komugi Pitou doesn't have any reason to follow him, Gon was acting rationally in this episode. Yes, if he kills Pitou Komugi might die but he would have killed a monster not an innocent girl, it would be just a tragic consequence

Yū Nishinoya

killing himself by entering a fight with Pitou is different from that creepy lovers suicide concept, you called it "tragic" so you clearly meant another thing. There's nothing tragic in entering a deadly combat because you love your best friend

Yū Nishinoya

When the whole point of this arc is Ants becoming Human this would do literally nothing for the story lol

Happy

Suggest it when Ranking of Kings comes close to ending! We'd love to have them watch it!

Isaac

Im watching frieren right now and its so good

D

I just find it crazy how Frieren (9.39) is still 0.30 points above Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (9.09) on MAL. And then there are 7 more anime in the 8.98 - 9.07 range close behind.

Robert H.

I'm 99% sure you would love Frieren! Consider it if you are looking for a new anime to watch.

Will

I can understand that, as there is definitely a lack of male non-romantic intimacy on screen which effects the way men can acceptably show affection for one another. However by the same token there's a huge lack of young gay crushes/relationships shown on screen, especially anime where it's more often than not sexualised. Which one feels "right" to someone imo is based on which one they identify with more, and that usually leads to these discussions turning nasty because people feel as if something special about the show they love is being tainted or ruined. For me either way you look at it their relationship is one of the purest and most precious in anime, and as long as people stay open minded to indivudal interpretations I'm all good either way.

Kya Colosseum

Well said.

Shivering King Banana

So basically,All three royal guards had humanity grew inside them, but the direction were all different

RI RI

You mentioned that you didn't see "humanity" grow inside Poof. But Poof was literally the first one who got it,although it was against hunter side. Remember Poor rushed to throne room when dragon dive was falling? He had a mental breakdown for betraying the king. How exactly? When the dragon dive come he had two options, go to the west tower or the throne room Well, He knew King would be with Komugi in west tower and still headed to the throne room. The true option was Which king he wanted to follow? The one to rule the world or the who plays gunngi? As a royal guard,he should not hesitate to protect the king at anycase. It was the human side inside him made wrong choice to go to throne room.

RI RI

No, it was both of them, but I am referring to the line Knov specifically said when he told Killua to go lie down in bed.

Seni Adeyemi

It was Morel but point taken. The boys grow so rapidly

Karabo

I didn't want to spoil them, on the GOAT okay.

Karabo

So what do you think he means when he says don't move? Are they scared Gon's gonna beat the guards up? It's called reading the room, not everything needs to be said to be understood.

Shivering King Banana

Yes it is a valid interpretation but it just feels cheaper to me than pure friendship. Or I guess a better way to say my problem with that would be that it makes it seem that the only friendships that can be this strong are romantic ones. You can love someone and not be able to imagine your life without them without there being any lust involved.

Shivering King Banana

Remember when Knov was first introduced? He smugly told Killua he was in a state of panic and to go lie in bed and he will take care of the Royal Guard. Now look at Knov. He’s been humbled. And Killua just gave a Royal Guard a thrashing, and Gon is sitting perfectly calm in a room applying pressure to TWO Royal Guards.

Seni Adeyemi

and then there's the greatest ROYAL GUARD the most complex villain in history shaiapouf

Salvatore

Vicente de Paulo Guimaraes Priante

up

Vicente de Paulo Guimaraes Priante

uppppp

Vicente de Paulo Guimaraes Priante

Of course there is, but I think reading Killua's affection towards Gon as romantic is perfectly valid. Again, the anime did a poor job at translating that scene from the manga. The phrase used is the one for "lovers suicide", I don't know what else to tell you HgPt. If you enter a fight knowing 100% you're going to die, it's fair to interpret that as a suicide.

Kya Colosseum

Man, the chats about Knov's bravery at the end is actually quiet beautiful and why I love you guys. At first I thought Knov was rendered incapable of fighting purely coz his power is actually OP and would make writing this fight difficult, which is still true but because it was well written how facing Nen with malintent and you are not protecting yourself is deadly, I saw it as Togashi closing the plothole. What I failed to consider is that Togashi was showing another aspect of humanity which is Bravery! The ability to be utterly terrified of something and still push forward is such a human trait and Togashi highlights it perfectly with Knov. This Arc is about humanity and I just find it so profoundly written.

Karabo

And with that, the Youngest Royal growth has reached a level of maturity that we didn't expect. Pitou wants to save Komugi to preserve the king's "Humanity" or ability to grow on his own. She wanted him to be whatever he wants to be (like a great mom actually) and now Youpi has literally grown past his his instinct to kill all threats to the king purely because he learned to respect these guys and the paces they put him through. It's honestly Amazing... And then there's Pouf....

Karabo

Damn. No one ever explained what happened to Youpi so perfectly. Great comment

Karabo

I love how Togashi writes the royal guards to all be so nuanced. He has some of the most compelling villains in any manga or anime I've ever seen, and they're a big part of why so many people see HxH as a masterpiece.

idoleyes

Jujutsu Kaisen is also pretty good show, with really good char dev

rankiron1111

Hearing the love for Knov is ♥💯

Kevin Inoj Perez

Gon didn't threaten to kill a girl in this episode, it was just a Pitou's assumption

Yū Nishinoya

he is not willing to kill himself lol what.....he said he could die fighting with him against Pitou, that's very different

Yū Nishinoya

I'd say Youpis character growth is worth more than Morels "mistake"

Shivering King Banana

There is other types of love than romance.

Shivering King Banana

You guys NEED. NEED. To watch nana…it’s about two girls in their twenties experiencing life….basically !

nym

To me, Youpi is the most interesting and complex out of all the Royal Guards. His character development is amazing. Also, he is the only one who was born out of a magical beast, and not a human. Yet ironically he displays the most individuality.

hellios6

Curious fact about the scene between Killua and Meleoron: This scene is probably the most poorly translated scene in the entire anime, taking into account all the weight it has and how much the bad translation ruins it. In this scene, after Killua says he will return to Gon's side, Meleoron asks what they will both do next, and to this, Killua responds that, in the worst case scenario, Gon will give his life to defeat Pitou. ( In most adaptations, it was translated this way ). The problem is that, in the original japanese, Pitou is never mentioned in this dialogue, what Killua actually says is that, in the worst case scenario, he and Gon will die together. He even uses the word "shinjū" ( 心中 ), which has a very deep meaning. It's basically when people decide, out of love, to die together, in the hope of finding each other and being together for eternity in the afterlife. Not to mention, this scene is a direct reference to the scene where Gon and Killua are stargazing together, in episode 37. At the end of this scene, we can see a shooting star in the sky, and this star is there to seal their promise and desire to be together forever. This scene is so beautiful and so sad at the same time. Mainly, taking into account everything that has happened so far. And the fact that it is so poorly translated is really very sad.

HxH has my heart

Btw I feel at point both of you should read the manga after you guys are done with the anime.. or you could wait until they animated the rest of the source material but that could be years or even decades from now lol

Jack SV

When I said Youpi is my favorite royal guard I wasn't joking

Max__

Unpopular opinion but Morel and Knuckles should’ve died by Youpi in that situation..usually in HunterxHunter when a character makes a mistake, they usually ended up dying or costing them something important but the way this encounter with Youpi was handled was a bit unsatisfying. That’s just me thou.

Jack SV

Very well said 👏

Miss Mewiththat

The reaction from when APR is removed till the end of the episode: 👁👄👁 👁👄👁 lol

Miss Mewiththat

Can't believe Morel was so inconsiderate to keep bleeding everywhere, almost ruined everything 🙄

Miss Mewiththat

I think Youpi’s storyline is quietly a high point of this arc. His fight with Knuckle is an extended meditation on rage, one of the most primal of human emotions. The fight pits two of the most hot-headed characters against each other and explores what they can learn from each other about their own anger. Youpi’s key discovery —that he can inflame his rage without actually believing in that rage—utterly changes him because it acquaints him with one of the most profound aspects of human psychology: the capacity for double-think and disassociation. This is Youpi learning metacognition; learning that even an emotion as intense as rage, apparently the diametric opposite of rationality, can in fact be strategically, self-consciously weaponized. You can consciously escalate and de-escalate your anger, just as you can stand outside yourself and observe your own anger. The moment Youpi grasped this possibility, he ceased to be an animal. He ceased to exist as an unconscious part of the world; he discovered an interiority that threw up a wall between what’s “inside here” (the self) and what’s “out there” (the world). He now perceives a gap between “I” and “that.” His experience of reality becomes mediated, rather than direct. He is now human. Youpi learning “how profound Nen really is” is just another way of saying that he learned how profound human psychology really is, because Nen is just the elemental expression (and literary dramatization) of human personality.

AE

Very easy scene to miss tbf with how many things happen in this episode tbf. I'm not sure if it's translated the same in the anime as it is in the manga, but the "I might go down with him" line in Japanese is very often associated with "lovers suicide". Personally read Killua's feelings towards Gon as romantic, but even if you don't it's tragic that he's literally willing to kill himself for the sake of his friendship with Gon.

Kya Colosseum

The reaction to Netero in the next episodes thumbnail, sometimes the little spoilers are worth it for those moments lol

Darrach

Big episode for Youpi! The moment Knuckle removes APR is such a shocking one: the last 10 episodes of progress fighting Youpi have been rendered moot, yet there is no let down because the characterisation from Youpi is the real reward from their battle. Knov coming back to save Shoot and Morel is a great moment too, again the voice actor carries across the fear he feels fantastically.

Darrach

That sure was a lot of discussion time dedicate to the "least interesting" royal guard. And that's in the episode where Gon threatened to kill a girl.

Shivering King Banana

There's like 30 named characters in the current arc lol

Shivering King Banana

ugh i have no idea, ive been getting my nails done for like 8 years, i just know my nail tech uses a gel polish from Pronails, if i remember im gonna check when i go again in like 5 days

LM Reactions

Looks red.

Shivering King Banana

I'm surprised Killua saying "I might go down with him" didn't get a reaction from the girls.

Shivering King Banana

Yay you finally get to see youpi being an awesome character hahah

Amber

Yes, MELODY EXISTS

Wallas

Finally here...in this episode Yupi demonstrated more evolution than anyone else in the royal guard so far, he was the only one to choose something for himself, not thinking about what the King would want. I think that's why he's so loved by so many, he may not be the most interesting of the royal guard, but he's the most charismatic (in my opinion) even though he looks scary...love Yupi <3

Wallas

'Morel stop bleeding right now!' This is some serious victim blaming xD

Indy Bruining

Yes, Melody is also involved in the current arc in the manga.

madgod

I know you probably won't see this Lola but could you please tell me what shade that nail polish is?
