The Wire 3x09 Reaction

Prez is a great commentary on why police in the US require way more training and psychological evaluation - so many aren't cut out to do the job the way its supposed to be done in terms of field work, and that's Prez to a T. Great in office, but completely incapable in the field.

I'm rich bitch, don't worry about it.

Lil Don075

Yeah I remember that video. I left a comment under it telling her that one of her comments was going to age very nicely lmao

Vicpres

Dude, on fucking patreon, a service you pay for wtf! How sad is this person's life

Karabo

Hahaha, The gRandma culture in Serbia is a random by product of You guys and The Wire being a great combo.

Karabo

@Isaac Hed Appreciate your kind words! Need to reel myself in sometimes lol I'm a typical US citizen, very little knowledge of any public health struggles outside of the US unless I've seen headlines or talked to a friend there smh With surrounding countries decriminalizing drugs and prostitution do you think Swedish votes will be swayed?

Appreciate you highlighting Wood Harris, I love any scene he’s in with one of Avon’s family members (especially that scene with his brother) Love how he pulls a level of humor and playfulness out of Avon while still bringing it home with any emotional scene. The slow zoom in on his face with his final moment seeing Dee alive (Dee refusing to associate with him anymore) always hurts His conversation with Cutty also just kills me, it really feels like Avon is in so deep that he had trouble considering living a life outside of crime

space1999

That was one of my biggest complaints as well, that death and all the arguments among Omar’s group would have meant something to us if they had more scenes In response to your second paragraph I'll just leave this below if you're curious to know wether or not storylines you mentioned will be handled poorly or not No Spoilers Gurl qba’g qverpgyl nqqerff gur obl jub ybfg na rlr ohg gurer vf fvtavsvpnag cnl-bss sbe Cerm va eryngvba gb gung vapvqrag, V guvax lbh’yy or cyrnfrq Curious to hear your thoughts with the new episodes and the season as a whole (and for Chris and Marketa and the couch to start Buffy season 5 🙏)

@space1999 I’ve been liking it! The first half of the season wasn’t quite as strong but it’s been building very well toward the finale. More Omar has been great, though I do still wish the show let the audience just hang out with his crew more, or had episodes that focused on them as a whole. I also wish, because of this episode in particular, that the show made more of a point about the kid Prez assaulted. Maybe it will going forward - I’ve only seen through 3x10 at this point - but so far it hasn’t really come up. I think seeing him actually grapple more with the guilt of that would help me a lot toward his character. Otherwise…hmmm…I really like how the Avon and Stringer stuff has been shaping up. I’m really curious to see how all of that is going to come to a head, especially with Omar and Marlo in the mix. And I’m feeling tension about the inevitable fall of Hamstersam. Oh, and Dennis is great, I’m loving his storyline.

cosmotron

Ain't none of y'all been on the internet long enough to know that trolls want the attention? 🤔 If everyone just ignores him he'll disappear 😅 Anyways, it's so typical that the time we get two episodes of The Wire dropped is exactly the time when I won't be able to watch for a day or two. Infuriating, as I love for these reactions. But I had to poke my head in to say hi now that you've reached the Stringer-Avon/Prez storylines. In the comments above, Damien mentioned that Lola said something during the season 1 reactions that he's waited for a long time to bring up. Once you make headway into season 4, there's definitely something Lola said (and I'm pretty sure Milena too) that is very relevant. Emotionally and socially conscious as always during the reviews. Love to see it 👌

TeaDrinker3000

We don't give enough credit to Wood Harris (Avon Barksdale) for his acting in this show and I LOVED how you girls pointed out his attitude change and body language shift when it comes to Stringer. Avon is very much trying to convince himself that he can still work with Stringer, a part of him will always look at Stringer and see his brother and that's why he is forcing himself to continue on, even though you can literally see and feel how uneasy it is for him. It also doesn't help that Stringer is literally undermining EVERYTHING that Avon stands for and not having a care at all while doing it just because he believes his way is better. And yet, Avon continues to have loyalty toward Stringer, that's why I will always side with Avon over String, you ladies are right, Avon is all heart and always has been. A part of me always felt that if Omar had gotten a chance to talk to Avon instead of String in the first two seasons, this beef wouldn't have lasted as long because to me Avon and Omar hold a lot of the same values, as demonstrated in this episode with the Sunday morning truce, whereas String doesn't. It sucks that in this episode String's actions gave off a negative perception of Avon because they are partners, but it's these little things and the Brother Mouzone situation that just shows that in this life, Avon is the more "honorable" for lack of a better term.

@space1999 I always look forward to your comments because I know they will be long and well thought out! All the Hamsterdam stuff this season is excellent and the drug reform discussion is always relevant. I live in Sweden and we have some of the most archaic drug laws in Europe while also having some of the worst drug problems on the continent. Maddening to see the rest of Scandinavia move toward the portuguese model while we are stuck with obsolete zero tolerance policies that are leaving people to die.

Isaac Hed

Your discussions about how white people are the reason for black people's every fault, failure and loss have been really interesting.

Lil Don075

@cosmotron what have your thoughts been on season 3 as a whole? I know you mentioned wanting more Omar in season 2, think he’s had some strong emotional moments (LOVE his talk with Bunk)

space colon

@Isaac Hed what discussions around this season have been the most interesting to you so far?

space colon

Now I feel horrible that I picked on him and laughed at him. My bud has become totally unhinged.

Charlotte Drolet

Exactly, I didn't catch the little glint of murder in his eyes whenever a black person was around. I'm so naive. I now know the truth. White people are dangerous and as a black person, you must always be vigilante around them. I agree with space1999, segregation must be reinstated. #BLM

Lil Don075

You would rather we still be in the fields. Uncle Tom. We will be free!

Lil Don075

No one is even remotely saying the things you say. That is YOUR perception. You choose Lil Don075 to perceive things in that manner. You bud, you.

Charlotte Drolet

@Lil Don075 it’s all good, keep giving your money to LM who 100% disagree with your views 🙏 @Damien Fenton Great catch!

space colon

you are making a straw man to get yourself mad about bruh

medvezhonok

What made you think they where talking about you?

Shivering King Banana

Stop calling me a troll. Black people are not trolls.

Lil Don075

space1999 please come and educate this person. Thank you brother.

Lil Don075

Man, imagine having such a sad life you get fulfillment out of spamming troll comments and starting arguments on patreon posts. Sounds like someone needs to go out and literally touch grass for a while.

cosmotron

Why do you want me to get banned? tf? I'm just repeating what some other people are saying but you want me to get banned? What did I do to you?

Lil Don075

Dreaming of the day Don get's banned. Every episode there's several people who consistently leave interesting comments but any discussion get's derailed before it even has a chance to start.

Isaac Hed

They've connected the McNulty thing. They realized it a couple of episodes ago

Isaac Hed

Stop using drugs before commenting @Lil Don075

Jack SV

I will never stfu until black people are free from the yolk of these crackers. Cracker. #FREETHEBLACKMAN #BLM

Lil Don075

Look at someone like Prez, a clear violent racist just itching to shoot a blackman. He was acting all friendly with the black members of the unit, subverting them, gaining their trust for this very act. We black people are not capable of this manipulation. It is not in our blood.

Lil Don075

Hey Lil Don have you considered shutting the fuck up?

Derek Suboticki

It's hilarious to me it still hasn't connected to y'all that the Theresa girl McNulty is dating is the campaign manager for Carcetti. And the kid who turned himself is the kid that shot the other kid in Hamsterdam. They were saying the kid shot him because he made fun of his sneakers.

M Salam

Trolling? We black people don't troll. We are the most sincere people in the world. We are the chosen ones and are superior to every other race. Black people are literally infallible. We are the antithesis of evil.

Lil Don075

Exactly, it's such BS. All lives don't matter, just black people's lives. All Black people are victims, we are the only victims of every wrong in the world. Black people don't murder, enslave, rape, commit genocide etc Every evil you can possibility think about, we are not capable of that. We have melanin meaning we are god's chosen angels. America is the most evil society in the world. To this day, black people are enslaved, hounded and murdered. We can't get jobs, buy property or enjoy any of the luxuries any other people do. We will always be oppressed, no matter how "successful" we are. Jay-Z is a billionaire but he is still worse off than a homeless white man. It is sick. We must do something about this. I propose getting rid of every white person and have only us, the chosen people, rule the world. Then, and only then will there be peace.

Lil Don075

I was so confused until I realized he was just trolling. Weird how he takes offence to people calling out the behaviours of the people from the show.

Cole

@Thomas just saw the news about Jacksonville an hour ago, wild how specific people (who apparently watch The Wire) are still so sensitive to the fact that black people are victims of institutional racism and hate crime Anyone dare bring up Black Lives Matter and these sensitive children have to take offense to that and say “All Lives Matter”

space colon

Cant believe this guy got so mad that they said one of the worst cops in the show looks like a white supremacist lol, are you actually the actor from the show?

HeavenlyR

I can see that you’re just on here trolling everyone’s comments. So you’re basically choosing to pay a subscription fee to this channel just so you can post ridiculous replies to other peoples comments. What a sad and weird thing to do. Why don’t you just save yourself some money, cancel your subscription, and let the rest of us enjoy a positive experience on this channel without you here to ruin it 😐 K TY

David

He didn't "accidently" shoot him, you racist. He's white, they're all prone to murder anyone who isn't white at the drop of a dime. And he's police too, so its doubly true. Lack of melanin makes people violent.

Lil Don075

What are you talking about? It was the supremacist looking guy with the fascist haircut that killed him. And an innocent so called "violent gangster" is going down for something he did. This system is so evil. All white people should be in jail and all black prisoners freed, regardless of their "crimes". #AbolishThePolice #ACAB #BLM

Lil Don075

You're right. You know, my white side is feeling the urge, the "familiar" urge that all whites have to go out and shoot black people indiscriminately. We are truly the devils of the earth...How can we exorcise this evil that all whites wrestle with? And I'm a cop too, so the intensity of the urge is damn near quadrupled. Man, space1999 is right. There would truly be peace on earth if white people and cops didn't exist. Damn you, Yakub!

Lil Don075

As I watch the news of that attack in Jacksonville fl I just want to say I hope you get the therapy you clearly are in need of before it’s too late 🙏🏽

Thomas

Brother Mouzone, Lola's 'Ari' from Vinland Saga for this show

Jay Craig

Well, I don't think the show portrays it that way, it just asks the question. If someone wants to take it that way, that's their problem.

Aj

Easy answer: He white, therefore a racist who was itching at the chance to shoot a poor black person. Come on, it isn't rocket science.

Lil Don075

You guys really went off on a tangent on that body in Hamsterdam huh 😂. The kid that gave himself up was the real shooter. That’s what the discussion in the office with Stringer was about. They told Stringer that the kid shot the guy because he had laughed at his sneakers. Stringer then asked whether the shooter was important or connected to a crew and when they said no, he decided he was worth giving up to the police to keep Hamsterdam going.

David

Back in season one, I think it was the reaction for episode 9 or 10, Lola said that Prez is the type of person who could accidentally shoot someone. I've been waiting for this episode to post how spot on she was.
