Yup they got Bin Laden, who was immediately replaced
At the cost of 400,000 civilian deaths and 7,000 US soldier deaths
Tell me what those years accomplished when things are still fucked? The “war on terror” was all BS, there were no weapons of mass destruction and the US used the war to gain control of or ally with all the countries that controlled oil

God the bless the US for taking out a genocidal tyrant who was killing scores of Iraqi's. Now hopefully have they have the balls and integrity to place sanctions back on Iran and free Iranian people from the Mullahs too. Or they can be like you and let the biggest sponsor of Islamic Terrorism just run free.

Yeah you right, “…all Baghdad and shit” totally misremembered, appreciate you
David Simon has said the comparisons to the Iraq war especially in this season were intentional

Afghanistan was a huge part of the war in Iraq, US troops occupied it because Al Queda and the Taliban were there
Bubs is comparing the west side to Afghanistan because of the constant chaos and violence and struggles for power with new threats rising up when the old ones left

This season has a lot of parallels to the “War on Terror” The creators made their own show about the Iraq war, being critical about how problematic it was victimizing so many people with next to no justification and no real change being made
This episode Bubbles describes the West side as being like Afghanistan, so many resources are just wasted on catching dealers and not solving any problems while Marlo stepped up to fill the void left by Avon (getting Avon didn’t change anything)
There are a lot more parallels fans have pointed out, curious if anyone else has spotted any

idk if someone mentioned it but yes Omar's boyfriend was running away with the girl shooting over his shoulder and shot her in the head.. and they will do a good job letting you feel what its like to be in a modern day war on the streets between civilians.

"He a man today."
So simple, so understated, and yet so profound. I feel like that moment shows us a glimpse into Avon's soul.

I knew you would appreciate Avon's sincerity regarding Cutty's decision, even to the point it made you emotional. The amount of respect these characters have for each other is amazing to watch.
