The Wire 3x06 Reaction

They should watch Treme. (Everyone should watch Treme.)

Mike

ill be honest i didnt catch that on first watch

lolenseu

Omar's Boyfriend was the one who shot Tosha during the shootout. If you watch the scene again, you'll see.

I just finished listening to your review. I know it doesn't do good to dwell on negative things, but man oh man I'm sad to see that we're already past the halfway point of hearing your reviews of The Wire. This is such a joy to have twice a week, and I really will feel its absence once the series is concluded. The final few minutes, your discussion on bunk and omar... I can never get over just how articulate and sharp the two of you are with your analysis. Also I wanna say that I love seeing how passionate everyone else in the comments is about this series as much as I am. I don't get to comment long essays about the show as much as I want, but I also feel as though everyone has already said everything worth saying 😅 not that that's a bad thing. It feels very communal ❤️

TeaDrinker3000

Oh for sure like don’t trust any of them to keep promises and expect them to fuck you over, I think that makes his character interesting tho that he does care but his ego is way more important

space colon

idk man at the end of the day carcetti is a politician. fuck him.

RH

Halfway through already, yall have made quick work of this masterpiece! Don't know it's been mentioned already but you two should definitely watch (maybe in your personal viewing) We Own This City Produced by David Simon and it's more or less the spiritual sequel to The Wire in its themes, usage and focus on Baltimore, and the amount of Wire alumni in the cast--specifically Jamie Hector (Marlo) but also Poot, Herc, Landsman, and a vital S4 character among others). And to top it off Jon Bernthal gives one of the best performances of 2022 as the central figure in the real life case it covers It's only 6 episodes so it'd be quick but I don't think many people have watched it so idk. Regardless, highly recommend

Too true, I feel like he’s the heart of the show across the whole series, rebelling against the system in his own unique way and staying true to himself even tho he’s an outsider I’m someone who loves Omar as a character and his role in the show but everything Bunk laid out was too true. Amazing scene

space1999

Feel this so hard… feel like Avon (and a lot of characters but especially him) has this almost nihilistic acceptance of reality. We see him try to create moments of happiness with his family, cooking dinner and hosting family get togethers… I would love to see young Avon when his brother was paralyzed. I think that’s when everything clicked and he just committed even harder to this life

space colon

Too true! Carcetti has an ego but he’s one of the few characters in authority who we see have genuine care and concern for Baltimore Love everything you laid out! Really excited for them to see how everything comes together, especially next season

space colon

Fr like they just get the important details and see most everything the writers are putting out for us

I've been watching the full reactions, and the edited versions honestly aren't missing much. The Wire doesn't really generate big reactions very often. Most of what's cut is just them staring at the screen in silence absorbing it all. I think that's how most of us were when we watched this for the first time. Their reviews are where you get to see them at their most excited about it. They're the best part of these videos IMO.

As someone that likes Omar a lot less than most people who watch this show, I loved the scene with Bunk and Omar. Omar's code has always rang a little false to me, you are openly contributing to the wanton violence and destruction in your community and regularly rob and kill people. FOH, lol. One of his first scenes is him holding a shotgun to a kid that looks about 14. Everything Bunk said was 100% correct.

mbds

This why I fuck with y’all! 2 of my favorite scenes of the season the Bunk Omar conversation and the Cutty Avon scene at the end. Not only is it good entertainment/ acting but you guys understood how significant they were. That’s why I subscribe

Thomas

It's a longform show with a good intro and an after discussion totaling an hour and 9 minutes. As it is, probably too long for the youtube algorithm to even notice let alone suggest. if you want the whole reaction watch the full reaction??

Michael Cannon

////////vague spoilers////////// Do not read if you don’t want vague spoilers about The Wire and if you do read them, don’t speculate too much about it It’s funny you tell them not to be too hard on Carcetti because of the role he played in Game of Thrones. I didn’t trust Littlefinger from the get-go because of his role in The Wire lol

Legion

Geez…you edited this episode with a chainsaw. Some great lines and important moments didn’t make the cut 😐

David

HxH is the day after The Wire, either thursday or friday...the schedule is always the same

Yū Nishinoya

I don't know if you guys realized but the woman that Jimmy hooked up with at his kid's school is the woman that is running Little Finger's campaign.

BNJ

Jimmy's joke was that he actually gets chlamydia and lies and tells his wife that she needs to take antibiotics for his "bladder infection" haha

PoorHector

Yeah, goes to show that there is at least some honour in him, unlike String.

Bunks speech to Omar and Cuttys talk with Avon are two of the best scenes in all of The Wire, and that’s saying A LOT. When Bunk gets serious he brings the fire out!!! As much as I love Omar with McNulty, his relationship with Bunk was always better to me because of their past history. Bunk genuinely made Omar cry here and think about things and I loved it. Cutty I knew from the beginning wasn’t in it anymore and like you I was disappointed when he went back but when he realized he can’t do it anymore and came to Avon like a man and told him to his face I was so relieved. And the fact that not only did Avon respect his decision but also acknowledged that it takes a real man to be brutally honest like that it warmed my heart. That’s why Avon is the most complex character in all of The Wire, he’s ruthless yes and at times very ignorant and heartless about certain things. But he understands his world and the people in it, his genuine respect to Cutty here was perfect.

Nyeisha Melvina Clark

One of my favourite episodes. Very eventful, with the war kicking off and various plot lines coming to the forefront. So many good scenes, too; Cutty finding out the game isn't in him anymore, the scene with Omar and Bunk, all the shootouts, Carcetti playing his cards, cracks in the Stringer and Avon relationship, it's incredible. The way everything connects is amazing, almost like a Dickens novel.

Aj

Yes, I agree. Almost every episode has new mysteries, and plot twists, and revelations. Great for LM to react to and discuss. And it all converges at the season finale like a work of art.

Damien Fenton

It's really really good. It's a weird show too which lends itself well to this channel since discussions are gonna be fun.

Camzeee

One of the best episodes in the series, full stop. Love that Bunk & Omar scene to death. The Bunk is often used for comedic relief in this series, but Wendell Pierce absolutely nails this one to the wall. You should really try giving Tommy a *little* more benefit of the doubt here! A lot of people who've watched Thrones first see his character as another Littlefinger, and there is a bit of Machiavellian scheming going on here, but that's also how politics works. And yes he's vain, and unfaithful, and flawed in other ways -- but so is every character in the show. Tommy's intentions are mostly genuine, and he does want to help turn around the city. His storyline is a lot more interesting when you start from that premise and see him as another example of a flawed character going up against The System -- the real antagonist in the series -- and being forced to make gradual, compounding moral compromises to achieve a worse version of what they really wanted, just like Daniels or Frank Sobotka. I understand the political angle can feel a bit disconnected at first, but politicking over police academy classes while finessing Tony Gray into running for mayor so he can split the Black vote in a city that would never elect a white candidate -- the City Hall storyline is another essential layer in the show's interrogation of how and why The System is broken.

Mike

I've heard nothing but the best of things about Severance.

TeaDrinker3000

It's on the watchlist. They'll probably watch it close to when S2 comes out.

Camzeee

Does anyone know if the girls watched Severance on AppleTV on their own time? I've just binged the season this week and it was amazing. It is a slow burn psychological thriller which maintained a high quality throughout the season with excellent mystery and character writing, but the season finale is one of the best episodes of television I've ever watched, and that is no exaggeration. There is only 9 eps so far so it would be great if they consider it as a short show to react to assuming they haven't already seen it.

Damien Fenton

How comes hxh always gets delayed :(

Abdus Samad

Came here to say exactly this

Derek Suboticki

I think one of the things about Avon's character is that he knows who he is "just a gangster, i suppose" and recognizes the honesty in Cutty. At the same time, I think he sees Stringer as someone who is sneaky, shady, and more dishonest in his dealings. The scene with Avon and Cutty was basically "real recognizing/respecting real".

no hxh today?

I can 100% visualise that thumbnail as a modern day renaissance style painting, from the hand positions to the eyelines. I guess that's the power of The Wire. Anyways I'm really looking forward to watching this and discussing it with y'all later ❤️

TeaDrinker3000

That scene with Omar and Bunk.......so good.

BobJ

That's because yous have impeccable taste
