2023-05-23 23:54:42 +0000 UTCOne thing I can advise is to really understand Nen for a simple reason. TOGASHI LOVES to out in his show EVERYTHING he likes and strategy in battle is one of those. If you understand all he puts in (mostly for a "selfish authorial porpoise") the journey will be amazing cuz most of the things he adds in HxH, can be skipped but they give a totally new filter to the whole show. This fight was used as a clear example of how HxH will be. TOGASHI made it clear that he will sacrifice raw power and fancy move to give space to strategy and creativity. Mastro lost cuz his ability was basically shit since creating a double when you are weak doesn't change anything. He should have also worked with the basics of Ben and if he learnt to use Ben on his eyes he could figure out hisoka's game.

It's a future prediction and honestly it was just a 5 second very out there comment, not a big deal at all. Being this dismissive THIS early on is unnecessary and disparaging for what was a light hearted fun guess that really had no impact on their overall discussion. When he gets introduced it's quite obvious whether or not he's Kurta, post it then if they remain insistent but they're usually very balanced with holding theories in their heads knowing how easily it can be wrong, especially wacky ones like story-twist family ties. Also I'm sure an anime has never had characters confirm people to be dead only to reveal that one of the bad guys is actually the thought-to-be-dead family member now evil seeking revenge... >_> Anyways HxH fans still insist theorizing about family ties between a certain Mr F Portor and Nanika's family even though there's nothing in the manga to confirm or deny that (I havent read recent chapters) as well as other fun theories... it's part of being a fan of a story, people theorize silly things. Reaction commenters just seem to struggle to grasp the difference between information that is already known in the show so far and information deduced only after watching the entire show and every video essay about each characters motivation and personality.

While theories and speculations can be entertaining in 95% cases, it becomes unpleasant to witness when the reactor fixates on an idea and wholeheartedly believes it to be true. They then construct elaborate theories based on this misguided assumption. For instance, I once watched a reaction channel discussing Vinland Season 2. Throughout three episodes, the reactor firmly believed that the season started in Vinland(present day north American continent). They continuously theorized, predicted, and speculated based on this assumption. However, the reality was quite different. The main characters were actually working on a simple farm in Denmark, not in Vinland. In such situations, it can be frustrating at extreme end and mildly annoying to see someone invest so much energy and enthusiasm into a theory that ultimately turns out to be incorrect. Plus OP comment did not give anything new. Kurapika has himself said that his clan was wiped out. No one remains. The comment only brought this info again to front.

Operative word here are suspense or surprise. Original comment is not a spoiler in my book. Certain assumptions can lead to very absurd conclusion and theories so sometimes it is better to keep the reactors on track.

Hisoka and the currently unnamed Phantom Troupe woman have such interesting and widely applicable abilities. Both are great examples of the possibilities of Nen.

When she says things like "He doesn't associate with others" and "He has no interest in the past", she means that Hisoka doesn't give a fuck about anything but fighting and winning, he doesn't attach to anyone. She's saying he's a chaotic psychopath, a joker who only cares about himself and his desires, because in his narcissistic way of seeing things, he's the best, the strongest. A perfect and accurate description of Hisoka. SPOILER ALERT: I personally like to think this scene is also a subtle way for the author to say that Hisoka's past is not interesting for the show, there's not a turning point when he becomes a joker, he's just like that and that's it, but that's just my opinion.
