Vanilla RTX v1.8.0 Release

Vanilla RTX's next major release is here with revamped fire & water, snow & ice along with lots of quality changes to bring winter's first update to perfection.

Vanilla RTX & Vanilla RTX Normals 1.8.0 Changelogs:
• Revamped water
   New water is as faithful to vanilla water as it can possibly be, this also results in slightly clearer water reflections
• Decreased default end fog density
 This results in slightly better vision/brighter environment in the End dimension
• Added support for bamboo block and stripped bamboo block
• Updated scaffolding MERs to fully match other bamboo blocks (also updated to its newer texture)
• Updated bamboo plant stem MER to better match none-stripped bamboo block
• Made necessary adjustments to bamboo planks to match its newer texture
• Ice rework
 New and improved smooth normal maps, better & consistent heightmaps
 Reworked MERs with more detail, slightly glossier, resulting in better reflections
 Blue ice no longer emits light with ray tracing (since 1.17.10 blue ice no longer emits light in vanilla game)
• Snow rework (Snow, Powder snow, Snowy grass)
 Revamped MERs, now fully consistent with each other and slightly rougher
 Smoother normal maps
 New & much more sutbtle heightmaps
 Snowy grass PBR textures now properly match snowy grass
• Netherrack Rework Crimson/Warped Nylium side, nether gold and quartz ore normal maps, now much smoother & minor adjustments to heightmaps (netherrack parts only)
• Adjustments to magma block emissivity, now more detailed, per-pixel
• Revamped all fire and campfire fire, fire MERs
 New MERs are based on averaged RGB value of all animation phases combined
 Soul fire now appears significantly dimmer than regular fire
• Improved lantern and soul lantern emissivity (overall dimmer), updated heightmaps and normal maps
• Reworked quartz pillar normal maps
• Updated redstone block top normal map
• Improved jukebox and noteblocks
 The disk insertion spot on the texture now absorbs more light, making it appear darker
 Fixed noise on their heightmaps & reworked normal maps
• Redefined materials for certain black irons, now fully consistent and more detailed
  Reworked iron parts on smithing table, lanterns and chains MERs
• Reworked smithing tables normal maps and heightmap
• Reworked all ore parts on all ores normal maps (e.g, the gold or emerald parts on emerald or gold ore)
  Every ore now has a concave-shaped normal map on ore parts, making them appear smoother
• Updated chains normal maps and heightmaps
• Berry Revamp
  Updated glow berries emissivity, overall dimmer to retain vanilla colors
  Updated glow berries, Sweet Berries & Berries on cake MERs
  Updated glow berries plant and sweet berry bush MERs to better match
  leaves/other foliage, now much more detailed
  Revamped all of their normal maps and heightmaps
• Revamped crimson/warped log side and crimson/warped stripped log side normal maps
  Now better matches other log variants/much smoother
• Improved all dripstone normal maps, reworked dripstone block normal map
• Fixed 2 pixels with wrong height on crying obsidian and respawn anchor bottom heightmap
• Increased pebble roughness on all dirt textures (e.g., farmland, dirt, grass side, etc...)

I looked into it, apparently this issue is caused by latest Minecraft update (v1.19.60) where point lights are emitting the wrong color of light. Similar issues usually come and go with Minecraft updates, but in the meantime I will be trying to create a workaround & share it in a dedicated post. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Hi, could you attach an screenshot? I am going to assume you're talking about soul torch & soul lantern. Torches and lanterns have hardcoded values for the color of light that they emit, that means, they can not be significantly altered by Vanilla RTX. For odd reasons, it first appeared to be red (MCPE-112916), later was changed to a white color with blue hue.

As far as I'm aware the only bug related to night and water with ray tracing is that moon lighting is at a different/opposite angle underwater (compared to outside of water). Chunks of land & water can also appear glitchy at any time during gameplay. Turning off clouds, placing or removing a block in the area that the bug occurs or rejoining the world temporarily fixes this issue.
