Question of the Month #51
Added 2025-01-08 16:46:51 +0000 UTCI present you all with this month's question for Dangerous Thoughts! As usual, we're looking for interesting answers which you can reply with here or through DM. Here's this month's question:
What do you think of wedgies in sci-fi settings and/or sci-fi concepts in wedgie stories? What kind of ideas do you like to see? Do you have any favorite examples?

I tend to find them a little difficult to wrap my head around if they aren't handled well. It's very easy to lean too hard on a weakly-defined physics system to create ostensibly "unique" scenarios that only make the final product feel floaty and limp. If the writer or artist can pull these off with the correct sense of realistic "Oomph" to the pull, then I'm all for it. As with all things in this genre, the moment of impact is absolutely key.

So many ideas in Science fiction, time travel, teleportation, artificial gravity, these things and more can make for the building blocks of not just a good sci-fi movie, but a good wedgie story as well. Imagine someone's underwear getting blasted off at warp speed, or a wedgie that lasts forever because of time distortion so they feel it as it goes but it's like being in slow motion. Those ideas are just off the top of my head! I think if handled by someone creative and clever enough, the possibilities can be as infinite as the concepts presented in Sci-Fi as a whole.
