The presidential debate was really disturbing. Watching Trump & Biden face off as caricatures of themselves was horrible. They were both lying, Trump was such a blow hard, Biden was such a doddering old man. Dividing this country into people who back a con-man & a ghost is a disservice & an embarrassment. We deserve better. They both need to stand down or be taken down. The world needs a USA that isn’t distracted by this nonsense. We’ve got more important things to do. By the time the presidential elections happen it’s too late to do so much of the meaningful work that needs to be done in directing this country. Yet, the presidential election always brings the issues into stark focus & makes things more serious. I have always disliked the way politics are handled in this country, most people do. They are like a football game where each side & their supporters claim that they must win or it’s the end of the world & the ball they are playing with is a nuclear bomb. If the stakes are this much, why are we allowing a con-man & a ghost to duke it out? If the stakes are more realistically our lives & our quality of life, the question stays the same. People have been organized into the stupid & the corrupt. I refuse to let these be the organizing principles for anything. Sure, you can cynically look at the many ways people can be bamboozled & the countless ways that people do horrible things, but the goal should be to make humanity & life on Earth better, Period.
