[DEVBLOG#153] Vanilla Outposts Expanded final look!
Added 2021-10-09 19:23:49 +0000 UTCHello everyone and welcome to another development blog, this time covering the remaining 5 outposts of Vanilla Outposts Expanded.
It needs to be reiterated every time, so here it comes:
Following outposts WILL NOT be present in Vanilla Factions Expanded - Classical, and are exclusive to the standalone Outposts mod.

Factory outpost depends on Vanilla Factions Expanded - Mechanoids and allows you to create an autonomous factory providing you with any item of your choice from our factory selection in VFE-Mechanoids.
It is however a big commitment, as you do NOT get the factory resources back when you disband the outpost, so think carefully if you're willing to sacrifice 15 Mechanoid components.
That's it for this devblog. Now you see everything that will come with our Outpost mod.
As for VFE-Ancients, we are still working on it. There is more bugs than I can count so we obviously have to fix them before launching.
You will be happy to hear that both Rim-Effect: Asari and the Reapers, as well as Vanilla Ideology Expanded - Memes and Structures will be entering testing right after Ancients is done.

I like the camping outpost! It makes sense to have something like this. Combined with the mod that allows you to build roads I am really looking forward to leaving my mark on the Rim with this mod!

2021-10-11 16:20:47 +0000 UTCThis is how it works. It's a special button when you select your caravan. You click Make encampment, and it will turn into an outpost. Just remember: it takes a while to refill all the stats, so you can't exactly abandon it all in one day!

2021-10-10 14:28:46 +0000 UTCCan I place encampment outposts by caravan itself, ie to gain food and joy on long jorneys, immediately abandoning it then?

2021-10-10 14:21:36 +0000 UTCYou cannot use artillery outpost to bombard settlements you're not physically in. You need spotters on the ground (codewise, you can't bombard a non-generated settlement).

2021-10-10 14:11:22 +0000 UTCNice! About the artillery outpost, is there any counterpart to attack another settlement ? Like triggering a raid into the outpost or a counter artillery strike ? Or directly attack your colony or another outpost is he is closer or wealthier ? Like you strike them and in revenge they attack your poor scientist because they are supposedly weaker ? What about neutral factions, do they know who is striking them ?
2021-10-10 05:58:16 +0000 UTCawesome, can’t wait!

2021-10-10 03:43:59 +0000 UTCNot something we have originally planned but definitely should've!
Oskar Potocki
2021-10-10 02:45:10 +0000 UTCIt's just forced miss radius like normal mortars. When you order the strike you get to select EXACTLY where the shells will fall on your map (for example, enemy siege camp), but the forced miss radius can slightly skew it.

2021-10-10 02:44:48 +0000 UTCIt does mean that if you have an Android, he will try to find another Android, if you have a tribal, they will try to find another tribal! Artillery Outpost CAN be used to bombard settlement you're planning to attack provided your pawns already entered the map of that settlement. You can't use it to bombard something that hasn't generated yet.

2021-10-10 02:43:48 +0000 UTCIs the Factory outpost limited to factories you've researched?
Scott Dockery
2021-10-10 02:06:31 +0000 UTCI am unsure how the Artillery Outpost works. Does the chance of missing means it could hit a different tile in the world map, or do you mean hitting a random part of the map during an encounter/base attack?

2021-10-09 23:44:35 +0000 UTCOhohoh very happy to hear that all the three big mods you're releasing soon are nigh finished, I'll try to help with testing Memes and Structures if I can get some time on my hands ! Back to questions, what exactly is meant by pawn of the same type ? Does it mean that if I had an Ancient or an Imperial soldier captured and turned into a colonist I'll get a pawn with the skill distribution of those factions ? Likewise does it mean an Android or a Rim-Hiver will recruit a pawn of that type ? Also about the Artillery Outpost, they mention hitting friendly bases and outpost, but can you use them to bombard a settlement you're planing on attacking ? Great work as always ! Really love these constant blog posts :D

2021-10-09 22:32:16 +0000 UTCOnly if those resources are listed. Normally we assume the camp finds their own resources as needed.
Oskar Potocki
2021-10-09 20:44:41 +0000 UTCHmmm ..... Is there going too be specific costs associated with setting up a camp? IE artillery camp needs mortars and shells, etc.
