[DEVBLOG#18] Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Production

On this development blog we will focus on what's coming in a new Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Production module, which will go out to Plasteel-tier beta testers pretty soon.


This very mod introduces more efficient ways for you to craft, smith and manufacture items. I have decided to add industrial workbenches (called large workbenches for the sake of simplicity), which boost the workspeed by 20%. Each of them is the size of a fabrication bench (2x5 tiles).



Thanks to clever coding, we are able to allow modded recipes to work on them - therefore any mods that you have, any items that they add, will be craftable on the new workbenches as they inherit the recipes from their smaller counterparts.

Additionally, the large cooking stove will allow for bulk production of meals! A feature greatly requested.

I have also decided to add electric drug labs, electric butcher and electric stonecutter to further boost the workspeed, since most workbenches have manual and electric versions.

A small fabrication bench which allows only for components to be crafted - no other recipes are allowed on it, will give you a chance to separate component assembly line and power armor workshop.

On top of that, we are also adding new linkable facilities that provide corresponding workbenches with work speed buffs. They stack with the universal Tool Cabinet, which in total allows you to boost workspeed by further 16%.

At this point Tynan should just hire you to make a DLC for the game! That's the level your work is at.

Great work. But i think they should be a different research otherwise ill never use the small ones

This is just great.keep up the good work. Would rather see them behind a research. Otherwise why would you build the older ones. For the medival I think there is some room for smaller productions benches. Think of a forge for weapons. A small weaver for the clothing. But this also opens up our wishlist for a vanilla mod for storage options and dare I say it caravan options. Like vehicles from the appropriate tech level. Something like a cart for medival and the mule from firefly (tv serie) more towards industry

Good idea on the smelter thing! Not quite sure about research for the big industrial ones. Part of me wants to add new research to make the gameplay longer, whilst the other part of me wants to just whack them into their existing researches as I am not sure they are particularly worth a next research.

Wonderful! This mod is going to be highly sought after by many for sure. How do you think researching these will be handled? I feel as if the industrial benches should of course come after their small original counterparts of course. Another potential idea for those who use your medieval mod for example, would be a slow non-electric smelter, as to cook down weapons and the likes into useful steel and other materials.
