Whaaat happened to September?

I'm so pleased with how this postcard turned out! Naomi and I checked out Alchemy Cider Co.--ask about their cider discount if you bike there!--and the evening light on the patio was really gorgeous. I took a picture and made the postcard over the next week.

I can't believe it's late-mid-October (didn't the summer just end?!) but my sketchbook is full of all the things I've been up to.

A group called Portland: Neighbors Welcome led a bike ride about putting more housing in a walkable, transit-filled area close to downtown.

The Comic Art Festival of Eugene went really well, but it was a long day! I had time to sketch an overheard conversation and stress about lunch.

Pacific Northwest College of Art hosted an event called Pictures Tell the Story: Political Cartooning in Portland. The evening kicked off with a comic fair where Barry and I were invited to table. The fair was followed by a presentation and panel discussion, which I really enjoyed.

Last weekend was my first time doing solo face painting at a street fair!

Unfortunately, it was pouring down rain half the time, so there weren't many kids around. At least I have a setup all ready for next time.

Look at that optimistic smile. She has no idea how much time she's about to spend waiting for foot traffic.
