I'm the new Patron Services & Office Coordinator for Cappella Romana, a vocal group and genuine buncha music nerds here in Portland!
One of my first days of work was a 13-hour day trip to Seattle for an evening concert. I was feeling nervous about several hours on a bus with my new boss and ~18 singers. For some reason I thought of the scene in "Some Like it Hot" when "Josephine and Daphne" board the train to join the band. Specifically I remembered watching that scene as a kid.
I decided to channel my inner Josephine/Daphne/Joe/Jerry and I made a couple of friends on the bus. I'm really happy with the Jack Lemmon likeness in this sketch.
Off the subject, I'm on Bluesky now. It has proven to be a time-sink on occasion:
I'm still processing the world around me through "Some Like it Hot" and "Dykes to Watch Out For." It seems to be working for me.
I started drawing this postcard when it actually was Oktoberfest and I finally finished it.
The outfits in panel 2 were all seen at Oaks Park Oktoberfest, including the dog-dirndl. (Thanks for the lederhosen photos, Emily S!)
