Hi patrons,
I'm about to fly east for a family visit. (First time in Pittsburgh since 2019!) I was trying to finish this spread first, but unemployment knocked me off-schedule. This post was all ready to go, so I'm giving you a preview and a peek behind the scenes!
This is the sketchbook page I drew in while Barry and I talked about how to open Issue 7. You can see the double-page spread in the upper left. Of course, we're also planning what highway-related trivia Lillian is going to annoy her friends with.
Actual footage of our meeting:

This issue is a great excuse to draw the Historic Columbia River Highway.

Naomi and I have biked about 30 miles of this highway, most recently last summer for my 40th birthday!
If you ever get a chance to experience a miles-long downhill coast through a forest on a bicycle, a highly recommend it!
Note: biking several miles downhill may result in a miles-long uphill later.

It was handy to get photos of cool nature-details to draw later:
...but sometimes you have to set up a reference photo back at home. Thanks Naomi!
And thank you, as always, for supporting me on Patreon. September was unexpectedly bumpy for me, and I really appreciate you all being along for the ride!
