Hi patrons!

I got my first vaccine dose at the Oregon Convention Center, the usual site of Rose City Comic Con. In many respects, the experience of looking for the right entryway, walking through numbered stanchions, and being directed by event staff felt completely familiar. But also it felt like being in a disaster movie. That afternoon, I dropped everything to draw the scene that popped into my head.

Naomi and I spent a couple of Saturdays volunteering at pop-up events with PDX Free Fridge. The goal was to help people file their 2020 taxes, to get them in the queue for stimulus checks. It is astounding how much harder this stuff is when you're missing some combination of paperwork, internet access, computer skills, a permanent address, and current photo ID. As you can imagine, it was sometimes frustrating and draining, but we had some fun, too.
