Hi patrons!
Jumping backwards in time a bit, here's some funny background about the end of Issue 5. According to the original script, Lillian went directly home from the Rabbit Hole (no changing into femme clothes at the bar, no bumping into Kansas in the street, no stopping in the park to work on the SuperButch story). However, Barry realized that the print version would look like this:

The surprise of Kansas and Teruko would be ruined because of where the page turn happened. So Barry thought, "What's a page of filler that would be fun for Becky to draw"?

He was right: I enjoyed drawing Lillian trying on and rejecting a couple of outfits. #RelatableContent But as I was drawing this page, Barry thought that readers could use a reminder that Kansas thinks Lillian lives in a rough neighborhood. So he added this page to the script:

Then Barry realized that if Lillian headed home right after bumping into Kansas, she'd get home ahead of Kansas and Teruko, instead of being surprised by them in the living room. So Barry wrote in a reason for Lillian to get home later than Kansas:

But then we realized that Martha can no longer tell Lillian "You can’t come in like that. Go put on a dress," because she's already wearing a dress. So Barry came up with "That skirt has more wrinkles than Lionel Barrymore," which is a more fun line, anyway.
After all this, I told Barry, "I hope you've learned the lesson that when you mess with the space-time continuum you have to go around tying up lots of loose ends ;) "
