I know Jer has seen these episodes so not a spoiler for him..

2021-07-14 10:03:04 +0000 UTCIt took 8 long seasons but the writers finally pulled the trigger and decided to kill off Tyler for good. I'm a fan of the character but I can easily see why most people don't like him cause he was written as your typical high school jock/bully in the first season and that's when fans knew that this was the character they were going to dislike. I think Tyler had a good heart overall when I look back over all 8 seasons but the way he grew up as a member of the founding families and the way his Dad treated him, along with the werewolf gene that gives him more anger, I think it's a little too much for one high school student in my opinion.

Tyler on the other hand... As far as Matt goes, he does bore me to death. However I didn't want the show to like kill him or anything (cause I didn't want Elena's sacrifice to mean nothing) but I feel like after season 4 they should have written him out after graduation. He could have like gone and joined the military or something... anything... cause even if you like Matt as a character, he has no storyline.

I like that particular call back because in this episode Damon kills Tyler and now the other characters have to decide if Damon is still worth saving.

2021-07-14 00:33:13 +0000 UTCHahahha okay so when I went to watch this I read the comment you put at the link "FAVORITE EPISODE" I spent like 35 minutes of the show wondering what Jerbear felt was so great about it, I spent the next 5 minutes thinking JerBear must have meant that sarcastically... cause this episode is not even in the realm of favorite episode material. THEN when I saw Damon laying in the road I was like OOOOOOHHHHHHH shit I get it now!!!! I forgot he killed Tyler in this episode.

I will totally admit I found a lot of poetic justice in that scene. Also, Tyler's speech was good, but it just felt so weird and not 100% coming from his character instead of literally anyone else.

Matt is just pointless to the story i had no connection to penny and matt i didnt care for her death scene and the revaluation that it was matt i only liked it cause i knew that matt was suffering because he killed his wife and then matt has the audacity to blame stefan because he was in mystic falls like bitch stfu he shouldve smacked his head off for even blaming him

But everytime I watch his death scene it does break my heart because he wanted it to be Damon and no one else to do so maybe Damon could get some humanity back and I love the message that the writers made in that moment because for me it was heartbreaking.

I wish it was Matt and he took Matt and just slapped his head off he has deserved it since season one Matt is a bitch like do something in the show they went with Tyler cause they knew he had no more purpose but just wish they knew how much Matt had no purpose throughout the show and they killed him off like why is Matt alive past season 1 like why he should’ve died in like ep 3 he aggravates me every time he comes on screen i just want him to shut up and be dead in s1
