Right.. Okay, so I love the concepts that she got into for sure.. I think when an artist like Taylor digs in to concepts unlike the usual, it really sets them apart.. the staging, well.. that was pure genius, that dive was like einstein level stuff..WOW!!.. Now, for my final score.. we will give this a 9.. two reasons.. #1- there is no such thing as a 10 because nothing is perfect, can't be done.. and # 2- it took me about a day to figure out what was missing in my mind, and I finally did.. during a song like Shake it off (For Example), I think there was a slightly missed opp

Hmm, Interesting indeed, and I kinda understand now.. although like yourself I would never cry in public, heck, for that matter I probably have not shed a tear since my Dad passed in 2017.. but that's just me..LOL!!

Okay, finally got to watch the rest. My daughter’s favorite song is “Shake It Off”—every time she hears it, she wants me to play it over and over until she’s too exhausted to dance any more, haha. So that derails things when I’m watching this concert. Midnights is a literal concept album—the concept being ‘13 things that kept her up til midnight’. There were 3am and Til Dawn variants with bonus tracks based on topics that kept her up all night, too. It’s got great sound and production, in my opinion, and I love the concept. The music videos were great, too. It’s part of why I’m so excited for her next album… folklore and evermore both had a folk-ish sound at points, but then Midnights sounded very different (the way her previous albums had shifted genres), so it means all bets are off. I think I’m the only one hoping for big band/jazz/swing type music from the new album, though. 😂 I just think it would be cool to see where she could take that. The only thing that would be cooler would be a rock, metal, or punk album. Maybe I should request a Midnights track to give you an idea of what the album sounds like…but I don’t know which one I would request. Hmm. Or maybe I should request something from Red, since I couldn’t get you that concert. That stage dive was the coolest thing, right? And then the screen at the back of the stadium playing footage of her climb into a cloud that floats away… I didn’t even realize it was the screen at first. So much went into this show. She REALLY wanted to deliver for her fans. Clearly. I’m still mad at ticket resellers. Taylor listed the tickets so the normal non-VIP seats would be $49 and now people are reselling those for $1500-2500. And I keep seeing people talking about HER being greedy. Like… Come on, front row seats with merch were supposed to cost half that much! I compared her to a couple other western artists and she’s charging a fraction what they charge. In fact, I actually compared it to the price on a concert ticket I have from 2000, and it’s the same exact price. Can you believe that? Greedy. Hmph! Greedy my butt. Based on all the math I did, I almost think she divided the entire profit up into bonuses for her whole crew. But obviously there’s only so much info I have access to… So I could be totally wrong. I can’t imagine seeing a show like this for $49. The work put into it is unbelievable. That stage blows my mind no matter how many times I rewatch it…

Before I carry on watching and forget altogether that you asked… The reason some fans bawl like than is that a lot of these songs really connect deep to them. They’ve related the songs to their lives because, honestly, Taylor writes about her own life and people are really more alike than they are different, I think. So it’s an experience where you’re in a crowd of eighty to a hundred thousand people, all of them singing a song that feels like it was written just for you. You feel alone and unwanted and weird, and then you’re in a veritable sea of people who love or relate to a character in a song you identify with, and suddenly it’s like maybe you aren’t unlovable. These people are giving you friendship bracelets (fan tradition—I have a display of the ones I received just going to the movie theater version) and hugging perfect strangers and it’s just overwhelming in a really good way. I actually got free merch from a random person at the movie theater just because I said I’d gotten there too late to buy it and was glad they’d managed to snag one for themselves. They just gave it to me. I hugged that merch and cried like a baby on the way home. It’s up on my wall now. A lot of people these days are starved of kindness and community. Especially young people, I think. Kids aren’t even allowed to hang out at the mall anymore. (Really—the mall has signs up saying no one under 18 is allowed without an adult.) And then they get hit right in the ribs with this kinda feeling too big for words and it comes out as tears. That’s my experience, at least. I didn’t bawl in front of anybody because I was raised not to cry in public, but I did shed some tears even at the movies. Does that help? Haha.
