Audiobook: The Drowned Giant by J. G. Ballard
Added 2025-09-19 17:00:16 +0000 UTCThis one recently had a short made for it in the Netflix series "Love Death & Robots," and so I felt that it would be nice to share the original short story on which it's based. Please enjoy.
As an aside, any and all criticisms are appreciated; I'd like to make my narration better however I can.

Exactly the kind of criticism I was looking for, this helps me a lot, thank you.

While I think this works great for a more "observational" or "factual" work, it lacks a little whimsey. For example, at 3:40, "abruptly, there was a shout from the crowd and a hundred arms pointed towards the sea" feels very da dum da dum da dum da dum to me. (Partly because of the rhyme in there). Perhaps a little more silence after "abruptly" would emphasize the abruptness of it while breaking apart the rhythm. On that note as well, a bit more negative space between some sentences could go a long way. This could help it feel more natural, like the actual "first person thoughts of someone" and less like "a reading of the first person thoughts of someone". Let me know if that makes sense!! Thanks for the audiobook :)
