Down the Rabbit Hole Progress Update: June 2025

Greetings,

I'm happy to report that the first draft of the script for the new Down the Rabbit Hole is complete, clocking in at about 14,000 words, which measures out to about 90 minutes long. I originally intended it to be about an hour long, but new discoveries and difficult-to-find information extended both the length of the video and the time to research.

"First draft," however, is a bit deceptive; by this point, each section has already undergone numerous revisions and adjustments, and the editing phase usually only takes a few days. More than half of the music has been concepted, and as Ryan does so, DerEineSchwarzeRabe is collecting B-roll footage. I'm going to record the rough draft for Ryan so that he can continue concepting while I edit the script, then record final narration. Visuals are fairly straightforward.

Should I finish my work before Ryan, I'm going to begin work researching a new potential topic, which I'm labeling Project D. This should ideally be another small topic, much like the Boatmurdered video, with information relatively centralized, but we'll see. DerEineSchwarzeRabe is handling preliminary research for Project C, which is slated for after B-roll is collected for Project A. There is a reasonable chance that both Projects C and D are dropped during preliminary research, but this is the nature of production.

The animation for Section 1 of the Foxhole video is now complete, with Section 2 now the main focus. The smaller animations continue to be completed by Arcaxon's outside help, as well. He has developed a system for rapidly animating some repetitive sections, significantly easing much of the burden. If animation continues on this pace, then I would like to have this be the video after Project A, which is the current main focus.

All in all, progress continues steadily, and if all goes well, there should be a new video for all of you by the next progress update.
